What a marvelous human being he was An honest and exemplary life.....Paul Newman has quietly turned over the entire value of his ownership in Newman’s Own — the company that makes salad dressing and cookies — to charity. Completed over a two-year period in 2005 and 2006, the amount of his donations to Newman’s Own Foundation Inc. comes to an astounding $120 million. This is unprecedented for any movie star or anyone from what we call Hollywood. Of course Newman and actress wife Joanne Woodward have never been Hollywood types. They’ve lived their lives quietly in Westport, Conn., for the last 50 years. (They were married in January 1958. And people said it wouldn’t last!) IP: Logged |

I just heard that his company donated a little over $200,000,000.00 to charity, not to mention his creation of "The Hole In The Wall" camp for children with Cancer, complete with treatment facilities.Wow, I just remembered that I met him and Joanne Woodward once back in 1989 or 1990 at a reception after a play at The Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, CT. They had something to do with the current play or contributing to it somehow. I was a telemarketer for that theatre, just a kid really. It was just shaking hands and saying hello, nothing dramatic or star studded (except for them) but it was very relaxed and exciting. I think he was ill with something back then that made him very shakey (perhaps medication) and I was shocked to see him doing more movies after that because I came away from the party thinking he had Parkinson's or something, but he didn't. Anyway, I was a huge fan of his and I'm glad that he had a peaceful transition with his affairs in order. Geocosmic Valentine ------------------ "Everybody is a star!" All that is good about Aquarians. Paul you were the most beautiful man but that beauty was never your "raison d'etre" You embodied all that is good in the world. Kindness to your fellow man, beauty, truth and loyalty. R.I.PIP: Logged |

My favourite actor... he embodied everything great and warm; sexy and stylish. The biggest heart and the most charming soul who lived life to the full enjoying his racing and giving joy to others in bucket loads. I doubt we will see a man with his looks and charisma for a long time. God bless and may your next life be just as entrancing. IP: Logged |

He's always been one of my favorites, too.I thought his best work was in The Color of Money. Newman... like Freeman.. synonymous with integrity. A perfect Aquarian... Holding the world at arms' length, in order to pour out his vessel. IP: Logged |

--The wonderful thing about being a celebrity is that people can project their ideas of perfection on to the person in the spot light. ---Years ago, in Santa Barbara, rumor was that Paul was Gay, or at least Bi--- --whether or not the rumors are true, seems to me people make enormous adjustments in a marriage that lasts THAT long!!! maybe romance is the first to go...IP: Logged |
