I hate asteroids, shoot me. I can stomach maybe 1 or 2 on a chart, after that, you completely lose me. IP: Logged |

I understand that too well - especially when all the interaspects are displayed, and all these lines are clustering there - grrr.Still, I am curious about the asteroids and about the Arabic Parts, too.! ;-) Here's what I have made-up for my own purposes: a document in which I "collect" aaaaallll the asteroids, midpoints, parts - but which allows me to have a quick look, nevertheless. It even makes it easy to compare my points to a potential partner's. Try out a simple EXCEL-file! In the left column I listed the whole zodiac, from 0° Aries up to 29° Pisces - 360 lines. ;-) In the next column, right tot it, I started to list my own chart-points, in the respective sign/degree-line. I bolded the main planets, like Sun, Mars etc. and I also bolded the house-cusps - to get a quick overview ... and I also added all the other points and stuff I have collected. (I even added the draco-planets, but gave them a different colour....) If you've got a potential partner, you can add another column to the right of your own ... fill in his degrees ... and by that ... get a quick overview - which of his planets, points are parts do fall in which of your chart-areas etc.... If I want to check "aspects" - for example: does his Venus make some aspect to my points? Then I just look up his Venus, say it's in 10° Taurus ... and then I scroll up and down my own column ... checking the 10°-areas in each signs ... and quickly see which points are "touched" by his 10°-Venus... This is also a possbility to "read the story of your chart" from the top to the bottom: If you start with your ASC-line and then read on ... it is like a theatre play or movie, and suddenly all the "figures" are poppin' up on stage ... difficult to explain. It probably sounds silly, described like I did. Sorry! ;-) IP: Logged |

actually sounds riviting. I wish I understood it better. It sounds like an easier way to see the aspects to me.IP: Logged |

Alvarella,I do it the same way, some times, if I feel the need to get an overview. It helps to see patterns and clusters emerge. And I often noticed that important planets in the Draconic chart will fall onto the clusters in the tropical. IP: Logged |

Earth signs like to keep things clean. I don't like the visual clutter. I can handle a few asteroids in a chart, but beyond that I'd rather just know their location and then mentally place them in the chart. But that's just a question of personal taste. It looks like Pollock had a go at charts filled with them, and that look doesn't appeal to my Venus in Cap. I don't find them conceptually messy though. From what I've seen, they have value so I use them and don't fault others who do. IP: Logged |

I think that asteroids are overated!I consider them to be the 'seasoning' on top of the rest of the 'ingredients' in the astro dish, lol. If the 'ingredients' aren't there to begin with, no matter how much 'seasoning' there is it just won't work IP: Logged |

i agree, it's all ridiculous to me..entertaining to a point but seriously people it's trying way too hard. if you're with someone or going to be with someone, you need to rely on that intuition .. astrology cannot tell you everything .. you DO have the ability to just live and go with it, leave a little mystery.grrr! ------------------ Capricorn sun / Scorpio rising / Sagittarius moon Mercury:: Sagittarius Venus::Scorpio Mars::Pisces IP: Logged |

I like asteroids. They do me more favours than not.iqhunk had a talent at interpreting asteroids. He/she expressed an ocean of wisdom and an inner ability to make connections based on the fundamental meaning of that asteroid in relationship to other aspects. It was cognitive poetry in motion!!! There are strengths in understanding chart rulers, asteroids, varying aspects and understanding the 'character' behind them. It's almost like trying to place mathematical formulas with personalities. There's real talent in that! I still need to understand chart rulers better (amongst a whole lot of other astrological things). Adding asteroids is like adding salt to fish and chips. Oops, how bizarre, I just noticed OzMeg222 comment on the 'seasoning on food'. I agree that it helps but isn't the main part of the dish. IP: Logged |
