Lying is a topic that appears in many Lindaland threads, maybe it deserves it's own.

There's no sign more inclined to tell lies, and though some aspects get pinpointed as indicators, even that isn't cut and dried. In astrology we live in a misty land of shades of grey. Very little is absolute fact; if you're like me, even your time of birth doesn't count as that.

Afflicted Neptune placements to the Sun, Mercury and Mars often get branded as aspects that indicate someone who is dishonest, untruthful or deceptive. That may sometimes be the case, but I think it should be born in mind that no-one is more aware than Neptune of the nebulous nature of the truth. How much in life is concrete fact?

Neptunian types are often sensitive and intune to other people's feelings and needs. Maybe sometimes they are inclined to say what the other person wants to hear, to make them feel better. For example, the question, "is everything going to be alright", is often searching for just the one answer, and that isn't the other person's true convictions on the matter in hand.

Lying to deceive or take advantage of someone is not good. I recognise that, I'm talking about that shifting grey area that Neptune might be more aware of than other astrological archetypes.

I'm more inclined to embellish, which in itself is a lie I suppose. Jupiter in the 5th, I lie for comedic effect, getting creative with the truth to get a laugh, bigging it up, rather than on any serious matter.

Tall stories, intended to entertain, not deceive. Is that deserving of censure for dishonesty? I'm not sure it is, especially if it is isn't about anything consequential.

you know, I always tell the truth and yet no one believes me, people distrust me, I don't know why.

I'm loathe to use astrology to excuse basic rudeness and indecency. I think our natal charts are a guide, not a disclaimer. Given certain predicaments - everyone is prone to lying - to some degree.

I have neptune trine mercury 0,36 orb.
I can pretty much make people believe what I want...even multiple people simultaneously, i just have to make up different stories for those people...and they pretty much believe it.
But anyway since I found out I could do that I stopped it.

I actually did some research on this since I tend to attract liars, even pathological ones. Afflicted neptune, especially if neptune is in 1st or 7th. PROMINENT GEMINI.

I have Sun, Neptune, Merc conj in Sag and I also have my Moon in the 12th and if anything I get into issues b/c people tell me I'm too blunt... so if there is a struggle its between being blunt or not even saying anything at all ...

There's the thing, Racole, I'm more on the forthright side of the fence. But you soon get to realising that this kind of straight honesty isn't always welcome. It does make me appreciate why sometimes people opt for a more fluid relationship with truth.

On my chart the culprit is easy to spot ~ Mars in the 3rd house, Conjunct the North Node, Square the Ascendant on one side and Mercury CNJ Venus on the other.

I tend to opt for silence when I think that will work out better for everyone than saying my piece. Like you suggest this can be hard to judge, especially if you have a bit of a temper, which I do.

Growing up I was very truthful. I just couldn't lie, if I did you could see it in my face and I'd have to tell. Or I'd squirm and squirm until it killed me and I'd come clean.
Then I was married to a man for almost 10 years and he is a pathalogical liar. He lies about the stupidest things. It's part of his daily regim to lie... and a lot.
So when we divorced, I found myself telling these stupid lies. And what sucks is when you tell one little lie, you end up telling another and another until you've buried yourself.
Since distancing myself from my ex I am finding myself again and remaining true to myself...if that makes sense...
I think that's the Sagi ASC in me...

I don't like lying because it's difficult. You have to be consistent, you should remember your story very well. Meaning, if you lie once you have to cover up the first lie with another lie, and then another, and so on. That's why a good way to determine if a person is lying is to ask them to recount the story again and again, you will detect inconsistencies.

Hi Haybelly,

Have you read any of Martha Lang Wescott's books on asteroids? I read an interpretation about one's not being believed. I forgot which asteroids were involved, however.
