Ah but being a Libra, should you NOT fall for such stereotypical quips ? We got the manliest of men on this forum to the more... sensitive variety. So don't worry yourself up with stereotypes. IP: Logged |

^^ Lol! It works with my girlfriend; So ergo I suppose that's a good reason as any darkdreamer .For me its more on grounds with understanding the human psyche. There seems to be an undeniable connection between astrology and certain personal behaviorism in people. I am just interested in exploring that with psychology as my aid.

lol, I think a lot of guys repress their latent astro tendancies because it does have a slightly "not manly" air to it (talking general public here NOT my opinion!!)Ive noticied a real cool attitude from most of the guys on this forum through reading their posts, the type of men Id enjoy meeting in reality I think... What about an "unaspected hearts" forum section??? Melanie IP: Logged |

I dont really get the not manly bit. If anything, its more manly than feminine. Its basically maths. Its for geeks. Men are bigger geeks than women. Tsk! Look at all these tomboys studying astrology? Dont they have to wax some legs or play with curlers, do washing up, look after babies, go shopping...that kind of stuff! :PIP: Logged |

"because astrology is stereotyped to girls interests, don't you think?"I am kinda offended by that. I hate gender stereotypes any way. Because I don't fit male stereotypes, some people think that I am gay..especially because I have a high pitched voice as well as highly sensitive, emotional (my Sun,Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio with Moon in Pisces square Neptune), and that's bullcrap. I have Sun trine Moon, and that indicates that I am easily in touch with my feminine nature...especially when it's a watersign trait. Watersigns are feminine signs. I actually hate stereotypes of all kinds..especially gender and racial ones. another thing...there are many men that are into Astrology, and as you see there are a lot of males in this forum. Also..many famous astrologers are men like Noel Tyl,Steven Forrest,Robert Hand,Jeffrey Wolf Green...not just women.
I got into Astrology because my maternal grandfather committed suicide, and so I went on a soul search, looking for the meaning of life, and so I got into believing in God again after 2 years of atheism. I got interested in metaphysical things, and that eventually got me into Astrology. I was a skeptic of Astrology, and I thought it was bullcrap. My skepticism eroded after I found out that my moonsign was Pisces, and I could relate to the Pisces traits....even more Pisces like with my having Moon square Neptune too! I checked to see if my mom's sign was Scorpio because as a Gemini, she's more Scorpio-like than I am. Sure enough...she has Moon in Scorpio, and it happens to be square Pluto too! I realized that it was a cosmic form of psychology after reading my natal reports, and my mom agreed with me. It was after reading about the Swiss psychoanalyst,Carl Jung using Astrology for psychological insights, that I started studying Astrology really in depth. I was mainly into psychological astrology, reading Dr. Glenn Perry's psychological astrology books. I am very interested in evolutionary astrology because I am interested in seeing astrological insights from a karmic perspective...that's why even check out planetary nodes...even asteroid nodes for karmic lessons/indicators.
I don't believe that Astrology is feminine at all. Astrology is spiritual. Spiritual is not something feminine. I believe Astrology is like science of the soul which I believe has no gender. I believe that I and many had pastlives as other genders as well as other races, ethnic groups. Of course,I believe the soul has no gender. When you look at astrological charts, males and females can share similar placements. Males can be emotional as woman with strong water placements, and that doesn't mean that they are gay. Females can be aggressive as males with strong fire placements, and that doesn't mean that they are gay. Being emotional is not something that's just for females. Being aggressive is not something just for males. I believe that belief in stereotypes is what leads to sexism(whether it's male or female). That's one of the reasons why I like Astrology because it points to me that males and females have similarities and not just differences. Maybe this is easier for me to me with my Sun trine Moon which is masculine and feminine being in harmony.
As you see, I believe in equality of the sexes, and I respect their strength and power. I have Sun conjunct retrograde true Black Moon Lilith(osculating lunar apogee) with 21 minutes of arc, and that could emphasizes more of my strong lunar nature of my Sun trine Moon, my feminist nature and belief in women's rights....maybe I had strong karma involving feminism and women's rights...maybe I had pastlives as a woman who struggled to be equal to men as well as a sexist man who treated women like crap. I became a member of NOW(National Organization for Women). The woman that I love is a feminist. the date I got into Astrology....June 29,1998 at the age of almost 28 years old at the time,I first got into Astrology Transiting Uranus was conjuncting my North Node in Aquarius in 5th and trine my Midheaven in Gemini. Transiting South Lunar Node conjunct my Moon in Pisces in 6th Secondary progressed Moon in Aquarius. Transiting Pluto was opposing my Saturn in 9th IP: Logged |

Glaucus, i read the first few lines in your post, and i could smell the rant, so i skipped, and read the details of how you got into astrology, thats interesting.i think you may have taken my statement the wrong way.. i didn't say it was a girls thing, and i didn't say i stereotype it to be. i said it is stereotyped. i don't know if it is in the country your in, but in my country, astrology and signs are stereotyped as ' a girls thing '. thats just a fact, you can't refute facts, its just the way it is (at least for where i am). its the same reason why this forum is coloured pink, which is again, stereotyped as ' a girls colour '. im sorry its that way.. and im sorry it offends you. just so you know, i am not a girl, and i also believe in equality a lot, and i hate sexism, and on that note, i think women can be more sexist then men can be.. anyway, so please try not to miss interpret what i said , i do not think its a girls thing.

Glaucus there was no need to be offended by her comment; She clearly said that its stereotyped as such and unfortuantely, many things related to the field of social sciences is usually stereotypically regarded as a domain of interest for females. I can verily place Astrology in the social science category (apart from its Astronomical links) since its deals primarily with the interaction of the individual with the environment he/she lives in. Hence through association of abstract thinking and placing emphisis on the Psyche, the concept of Astrology has been regarded as something that females would be interested in. Nobody is saying that's its the right supposition; Its just being said that most people regard it as such. IP: Logged |

It's not a rant....it's being passionateI don't like it when people can't be passionate in communications without being accused of ranting. My Sun is in Scorpio after all....it's about intense, passionate self expression My Mercury conjunct Venus in Scorpio in 3rd house....that's intense communications disposited by Pluto in Libra in 1st,and that strongly emphasizes equality also disposited in old rulership, Mars in Aquarius in 6th....that's a universal brotherhood, humanitarian placement...and can be an activist. any ways....I am in USA.....I think all stereotypes are B.S. and it leads to a lot of people being misunderstood and mistreated whether it's racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, etc.
btw..Roy MacKinnon is a really cool British astrologer. Chris Mitchell too.
yeah... female sexists can be annoying too. I am not with my exgirlfriend because of her extreme feminist mother. If she knew me,she would know that I am not like a lot of guys.
