i'm trying to get a handle on declinations - i understand the basic readings of parallels and contraparallels, but NOT how to find who is parallel to what, if you catch my drift... my american ephemeris has some declinations listed but where can i get this information otherwise?

Do you give information on declinations in the chart?

The declinations are given in the "additional data tables" (Please, click on the link "Click to get the additional tables" above the chart).
You can also find them visualised in the 3-dimensional chart drawing in the group Astrodienst special -> 3-dimensional chart.
