how do you interpret them? would you interpret them the same way as a unaspected planet in a way?

for example, i have no planets whatsoever in my 10/11/12th houses (so the entire last quarter of my chart, really). do i look at the house rulers of those houses to see how i would compensate for a lack of focus in those areas??? i have an empty 5th and 7th house as well, but i find it more interesting that i have an entire sector empty in my chart. how do you interpret that???

that sector of a chart focuses on the outer self, and i actually don't usually really focus on how i come off to others even with a libra rising. i've come to realize that i can't control what people choose to think of me regardless if whether i'm completely kind to them or not. they can think of it as ingenuine or genuine. i really have no control over that nor do i really care at times. as long as they don't start a conflict with me...

the 10th rules material action (duty), the 11th social security (friends), and the 12th emotional learning (spirituality).

the rulers of my 10/11/12 are well-placed, so does that help compensate for any lack of focus/energy in a chart?

for example, my:
10th ruler (duty) is Cancer/Moon in the 1st (being)
11th ruler (friends) is Leo/Sun in the 9th (expansion)
12th ruler (spirituality) is Virgo/Mercury in the 9th

interesting thought..i've never really thought about that. i have several empty houses...3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th. These houses display qualities, values, etc that I am very interested in and strive to become fulfilled in..but seem to come up short every time. It's like I cannot muster up the willpower to push me in areas that these houses cover, although I excell at writing (3rd house) and am deeply affected by issues of the 8th house..

not sure what i think about all that..hope someone knows a little more and can give us some insight

I read somewhere that empty houses signify areas of your life that you've already mastered in previous lives so you don't need to focus on them in this one.

^ Since I have an empty 8th house, I'll tell the IRS to get lost because I've already mastered paying taxes in a past life.

Half of my houses lack planets, so this is a topic I've wondered about too.

I'm thinking that when a house is unoccupied, the location of the house ruler tells us where we live that unoccupied house. For example, your 10th house ruler is in your 1st house. Simply by living your 1st house, you automatically live your 10th house as well. You don't need to focus on the 10th separately. Focus on your 1st house, and your 10th house mission will consequently be fulfilled.

I've got loads of empty houses:
1st - ruler is in 5th
2nd - ruler is in 7th, and it doesn't matter anyway because I'm a Taurus.
3rd - ruler is in 11th
8th - ruler is in 11th, and I'm a Scorpio moon
9th - ruler is in 5th, and I'm a Sag rising
10th - ruler is in 5th

It seems to me like Jane's theory is correct. Simply by living my 5th (eg enjoying myself and being creative, I am also living my 1st house, just by being a Scorpio moon I'm living the 8th house, 9th house issues are an integral part of who I am, etc).
