The T Square
This configuration occurs when Two planets oppose each other and both are squared by a third planet. The T-square is a difficult combination of aspects as it indicates the need to overcome many obstacles, but at the same time, it produces a strong driving ambition to do so. The tension and awareness created by two planets in opposition must be resolved by the planet receiving the double square. This third planet becomes a focal point of much importance in your chart. If the T square is made up of planets in cardinal signs:
This configuration suggests that you tend to be critical, impersonal, and in many ways dominating. You have a lot of energy and you are constantly looking for ways to spend it. The T-square configuration generates a lot of impatience in your nature and you often make hasty decisions that you may regret later.
If the T square is made up of planets in fixed signs:
You seek structure in your life and it can be hard for you to deal with abstractions, values and ideals. You may need to be more flexible in dealing with people; less determined and rigid. This aspect implies endurance and resistance in the face of adversity, but it can produce inflexibility, which inhibits progress.
If the T square is made up of planets in Mutable signs: (This what I have...and it's double in my case with the mutable t-square in cadent houses)
You tend to get emerged in criticism, ideals, and values. You are likely to consider it important to show your individuality and avoid merely following the leader and trend of the times. The easiest course for you may be to try to avoid or ignore difficulties, but such action does nothing to resolve them.
In all cases:
The T-square causes a lot of difficulty in the life but they also spark action and the drive necessary to achieve. Living with the demands of a T-square can be very challenging, but when the energy of this configuration is well-directed by a mature individual, it often leads to significant accomplishments. The T-square is an impetus to success that many famous people have. http://www.astrology-numerology.com/configurations.html
a point in aspect to midpoint acts like a 3 point combination.
a midpoint is a sensitive point, and so a point hits it,the energies of that sensitive point are brought into consciousness, manifestation.
example of t-square with correlating midpoint picture.
My Moon is in 3'10 Pisces
square the opposition of
My Saturn in 5'08 Gemini and
My Jupiter in 8'17 Sagittarius and Neptune in 1'48 Sagittarius
Moon square Neptune - 1'22 separating
Moon square Saturn - 1'56 applying
Moon square Jupiter - 5'06 applying
Saturn oppose Neptune - 3'19 applying
Saturn oppose Jupiter - 3'09 separating
Jupiter conjunct Neptune - 6'28 separating
my Saturn/Neptune midpoint is in 3'28 Virgo, and my Moon opposes that midpoint with 17 minutes of arc
as you see, it's due to my Moon closely aspecting my Saturn-Neptune opposition which is less than 4 degree orb.
also my Jupiter/Neptune midpoint in 5'02 Sagittarius, and my Saturn opposes that with 5 minutes of arc
also my Moon/Jupiter midpoint in 20'43 Capricorn, and my Saturn semisquares that with 36 minutes of arc
that's one of the reasons that geometrically oriented astrologers like cosmobiologists, uranian astrologers, and even the Magi Astrologers use much tighter orbs than traditional astrologers that tend to be less geometrically oriented.
Interpretations from Ruth Brummond's rulebook ....they have both positive and negative intepretations. It also includes Medical Astrology stuff. I actually prefer Cosmobiology over Traditional Astrology when it comes to medical Astrology because it focuses mainly on planetary geometry that include the hard aspects that include the conjunction, opposition, square, semisquare, sesquiqadrate and the midpoints that involve those aspects. Those are considered event-oriented aspects. They consider the soft aspects, trines and sextiles are psychological but not event-oriented. Many of the psychological, events, and medical interpretations are true in my case....even brain malfunctions(Dyslexia,Dyspraxia which required auditory therapy, speech therapy, phonics, and fine motors skill therapy). Of course empathic, sensitive also is true for me..especially for people who have problems. Also..with the Moon being the mother, it applies a lot to my mother and she has experienced a lot of these matters, issues, traits herself.
