What sign in your opinion is the ultimate devil's advocate? IP: Logged |

Gemini or Libra since they can see both sides of a situation and enjoy intellectually-stimulating debates. IP: Logged |

Possibly Libra. quote: In common parlance, a devil's advocate is someone who takes a position, sometimes one he or she disagrees with, for the sake of argument. This process can be used to test the quality of the original argument and identify weaknesses in its structure.
It sounds Libran, doesn't it? IP: Logged |

Gemini seems the most likely choice to me... they argue for the sake of it.Virgos and Saggies generally can be very antagonistic, but this seems to extend more from a belief and less from the sense of playing the role of the "devil's advocate". IP: Logged |

I disagree with those who say Libra.I think Libras are too unbiased to play that role convincingly. They may be able to argue two sides, but I think they are too unsure to commit to the role of the pure antagonist that is necessary for a devil's advocate. The role of devil's advocate needs to be convincing to be played properly, and I don't think Libra has the conviction to see it through without getting caught up in it... ...I find a Libran will always end up saying something to support my argument, which is all that is necessary. Scorpio, definitely. Look at the example on this page, read a couple of times through and you can see what he is doing. Scorpios are WUMs par excellence. IP: Logged |

The beginning of a lot of my statements include, 'I don't mean to play devil's advocate, but...." lol. Is it my being a Virgo? Is it the Mercury in Libra, conjunct Pluto? Both?I have noticed that Mercury Libra tends to play devil's advocate a lot. Sun sign alone feels like it would be hard to peg. However, I would be inclined to include Scorpio moons here, and even Capricorn rising, because they tend to be hard to convince in some ways. Don't know if that makes sense. Geminis...Geminis just like to talk. Gemini rising especially. They might play the role of devil's advocate but only for a second, before switching sides again. I think Mars in Libra does the same thing. IP: Logged |

Yes you are right. That was a ridiculous sweeping statement (due to my Aries placements!) However it is because, although I am not a person who get's bad treatment in life, the three times I felt I was back stabbed was by Libran women. One of my best friends is Libran. And although she is an amazing friend, I have seen how she behaves when threatened and it's quite ruthless. Nothing more scary than a sweet faced smiling assassin!IP: Logged |

i agree with what you last said bunnies, my fav film scene ever is a notorious actor known for his noble, nice roles as people in previous films (libra moon also) plays a ruthless hitman in a western who smiles when killing a boy! IP: Logged |

(but don't let it being a western put you off, this scene is brilliance, and evil!) IP: Logged |

How did we get to ruthlessness and evil?I don't see Libra as ruthless. That's one of the things I really like about the sign - wherever it may be in a chart and whichever house it occupies. Playing devil's advocate is more so about intelligence or wit - or a love of debate/argument. But ruthlessness isn't something I'd associate with the term. IP: Logged |

I disagree with everyone who has said Libra. Librans are the type that will sit on the fence so long they get splinters. The idea of creating mischief by being disagreeable would send them into a panic. Mischief and panic aren't things they like shattering the harmony of their world. IP: Logged |

well i think it depends on the motive for causing up a stir. a scorpio might do it for manipulation values, libra might do it to stick up for the otherside, to make things more ballanced or fair, etc etc..i think for some one to do this out of personal enjoyment in debates etc, depends on ASPECTS. Aries? They're too obvious, too blunt. They couldn't keep it up, and probably wouldn't want to bother trying. Aries ruler Mars in contact with Mercury is a similar thing. Combative, blunt. Would someone with that aspect spend their time winding people up with stupid and inflammtory comments? IP: Logged |
