I wanted to discuss about Water Symbolism which is often connected to Neptune and Pisces. I wanted to discuss finetuning indicators for water symbolism with certain asteroids.

I was born in San Francisco,a city on the Bay. So I was born near water.

I learned to swim when I was 3 years old. I was afraid of the water, and my stepfather threw me in the pool. I immediately swam to one of my stepsisters. It was a stepsister that taught me how to swim. I learned how to swim in a week. My mom even told somebody that I was an excellent swimmer since I was 3 years old. We lived in apts with a swimming pool when I was 3 to 13 years old. Therefore, I went swimming every late spring/summer until I was 13 years old. I was once told that I swam like a fish when I beat 2 guys in a swim race. They swam on top,and I chose to swim under water. I always preferred swimming underwater at the bottom of a pool since I was a little kid. I never joined any swim team because because I didn't want to shave my legs which became hairy at an early age. I have flat, wide feet(supposed to wear 10 EE shoes) too,and I used them like flippers when I swam underwater.

a best friend pf mine that I knew from kindergarten drowned in a pond

When I was a kid, I was fascinated with mermaids too. I loved reading fairy tales about them. I liked watching "Man from Atlantis" starring Patrick Duffy who happens to have Sun in Pisces and who was an expert in scubadiving before the show started. I was fascinated about things like the Bermuda Triangle. I liked watching "Aquaman" and "Submariner" cartoons.

I was in the Navy for 7 years. I lived on a couple of ships stationed in Alameda,California and San Diego,California. I was also stationed on an island in the Indian Ocean.

I would say that water symbolism fits me

I do have a strong Neptune influence

Moon in Pisces square Neptune
Mercury parallel Neptune
Venus parallel Neptune
Mars square Neptune
Jupiter conjunct Neptune
Saturn oppose/contraparallel Neptune
Uranus semisquare Neptune
Pluto sextile Neptune

however, those aspects don't necessarily mean that I am connected to water and the sea. Neptune has other meanings too like imagination, confusion, deception, illusion, mysticism, psychism, dissolution, inspiration

I believe asteroids fine tune things with specific meanings.

I chose the following asteroids

4341 Poseidon - named after the Greek seagod, supreme god of the seas

29 Amphitrite - named after the seagoddess, supreme goddess of the seas, wife of Poseidon

4660 Nereus - named after the seagod, Poseidon's predecessor, father of the 50 Nereids that include Amphitrite,Thetis

17 Thetis - named after the seagoddess, mother of Achilles

48 Doris - named after the seagoddess, wife of Nereus, mother of the Nereids

224 Oceano - the ocean, ...Oceanus was a titan of the the waters

1870 Glaukos - named after Greek fisherman turned minor seagod. Also known as Glaucus. I chose that nickname to reflect my strong Neptunian nature. I didn't know the asteroid until after I chose Glaucus as my irc nickname in 2000.

1198 Atlantis - named after the legendary island that sank. Atlantis is also underwater civilization in comics like "Aquaman","Submariner

Sedna - a dwarf planet in the kuiper belt, hypothesized to be an oort cloud object named after the Inuit seagoddess who lives in the depths of the frigid Arctic Ocean. ....it seems to be similar to Neptune in its meaning, but more otherwordly as in "out of this world",remote..especially when it's the most distant object from the Sun in our system when it is at its most distant point(aka aphelion)

Varuna - a big kuiper belt object named after the East Indian God of the sky,of rain, and of the celestial ocean, as well as god of law and of the underworld. He was once chief of the Gods. In later Hinduism,he continued his dominion over all forms of the water element, particularly the oceans....this object seems more about justice, judgment

There could be something to this, or just the fact that I was born in walking distance of the beach? Environment for my growth and purpose.

My Pisces Asc and Moon in Cancer may also indicate a connection to the water. It is highly therapeutic for me, especially the ocean. Until six years ago, I never lived more than walking distance from the ocean (Atlantic). The beach, heavy rain, shower, etc. do wonders to my spirit. Now, I'm landlocked from the ocean and lakes just aren't the same. No seagulls, no waves, no smell of salt. I miss it so much. And I'm finding that people who haven't lived near the beach, don't get it.

Ray,

I've wondered about Water in my life often. With 6 planets in Sco and Cancer rising, I wish I had more connection with water.

In my life, I have swam for four to five times. I was not born close to Water. I don't know swimming. I love being around water, but then I also love times on land, on mountains and everywhere else.

The only thing I could think of is Neptune in 6th Square Saturn in my chart causing no connection with water and may be high concentration in the Fire/Earth Houses.

If you can find any relevance with Astroids, i would appreciate it.

how are the minor planets that I listed placed in your chart?

That's what the thread was mainly about.

go to my horoscope chart drawings

then go to extended chart selection

then you go to bottom and you will see a list of asteroids and there is a box where you type in the asteroid numbers

This thread has made me think about the possibility then, if having a lot of an element in your chart gives you an affinity for it...does a lack of an element in a person's chart make one fear it?

I ask because I have always been afraid of water. Like you Raymond, as a child I was thrown into water by one of my friends older siblings, who were trying to help me overcome my fear of water. But instead of swimming, I sank right to the bottom. I have always been terrified of the water, and it was even difficult for me to watch movies involving large amounts of water such as Titanic. I am 29 yrs old, and cannot swim. I've taken so many lessons, but just can't do it.

I lack water in my chart. I have a large amount of air, and earth only. Maybe that is why I have always feared the water. Interesting thread...thank you Raymond!
