I share it constantly; I'm often ridiculed for it.

I feel a lot more comfortable being open to people that I am Dyslexic,Dyspraxic,ADHD than telling them that I am an astrologer.

I would only tell that to people that are into metaphysical subjects.

I always share it, to the extent where my co workers from the office I work at and the corporate office at a different state all asked me to do their charts for them, took me like a week and a half to finish that task off lol.

But yeah many people ridicule me for it and I give them the "EF U" polite sarcastic look back.

I share it with those I feel comfortable with. I don't expect them to share my interest, but it's a part of my life that's important to me. With everybody else I treat it like any other belief. They know my interests, broadly, but I don't force it on people as they are within their rights to tell me to go away.

Goodgirl, I totally understand!!!

I'm a Christian as well and I feel like I can't mention my love of Astrology around any of my Christian friends or family! It's so frustrating!!!

The same problem does not exist here in England where people are basically heathens. No one really cares if it is anti-Christian or not. They might get cynical and say it is a load of rubbish though.

I don't talk about it much, I don't know anyone else who has a serious interest in it. I don't feel like I need to defend it against sceptics, so if someone says they aren't interested, I just talk about something else.

my family is ****** off when i get a book to "teach" them, so i don't anymore. but they know about my interest, and it goes from the respectful silence to the sincere advice to get on with it in a career kind of way. that's with my family.

for my friends, well, i don't have many REAL FRIENDS, but with them, i know who's into astrology and who's not. obviously i talk about it because i like it, and they like me so it's ok. to a certain extent. one of my friend is into alchemy so we both use our preferred language to communicate about the samer thing. that's really cool.

and at work for example, i must confess that i tend to speak a bit too much about it. especially considering that i work in a factory where guys there see me as lunatic. i used to have long hair, and for most, that's enough to be skeptic of me; but on top of that, a rumor of me being gay finished to make my case. however as i obviously didn't give a flying fµck about what they could think of me and why they did, meanwhile being respectful of them, i guess the more open minded saw in me an unfinished replica of jim morrison.

but usually, when i outline the link between elements in people's family (like water/earth or air/fire) it's often enough for them to see that eventually there's something meaningful in it.

i think people are not too afraid of astrology, it's just weird to them. many are disillusioned by politics and society and want change but don't know how to do anything about it. so personal evolution seems suitable and since religion is not appealling anymore (because people see the institution trying to impose its control) they are somewhat lost. but being an angry and pragmatic people, interested only in its own freedom, and idealist by consequences but not by choice, people are becoming more interdependent; paradoxically. france is a "socialist" country, where solidarity means something. it's not socialist on a political level, i.e. the elite is not socialist anymore, even the socialist party ain't socialist but is openly preaching for capitalism, but the population has integrated socialist values in its core. may be some people will come in france and see it differently, but that's because they see the touristic france, the real france (la france d'en bas/the general population) is struggling and trying to become more fraternal. or so it seems. it takes time, but it seems to be the way we 're heading in. which will definitely create a clash sooner or later with the elite interested in its own interest only, like in greece between the youth and the state.

my point is, people are slowly opening their mind to what they would have called BS a generation or two ago, and that is only because people over here can't stand still too long before unleashing the devil, and all the traditional options (religion/politics) are widely accepted as decadent. i can imagine some kind of uprising, but that also has been experienced the last century, it actually happened in our country, twice. ask you grand-pa, they were probably here saving our aSS.

anyway, ramblin

The three wise men in the story of Jesus' birth were astrologers. That's always a fun one to throw at Christians.

I don't offer up my astrological fascination to absolutely everyone, but I'm typically too curious to hide it. I often come right out, and ask people their birthdays, which is a little weird when it's straight male to straight male, but I don't mind people thinking me eccentric. It's well worth it just to know their sun sign.

I don't show it to friends either. I keep it personal. Only with people familiar with it.

I've spoken to people who are interested in astrology about it, but other than that, no one's really asked. I'm sure people would be surprised to learn that I liked it.

well, i know a lot of people consider it superstitious garbage but i've never let that stop me going on about it. i guess i am lucky to live in cosmopolitan california, but even before i moved here i never had any trouble finding people open enough to at least listen...and i do charts for pretty much everyone i know, though a lot of people who are into reality creation consider it to be limiting, they are not completely closed to the ideas involved in astrology, since really its all about energy!

i don't understand the christian angle - if you guys are christian and can include astrology in your lives, why do others have a hard time with it??

katatonic, most Christians (I dont speak for everyone, but this is what I've experianced), instantly align astrology with wicca/along those lines. Whicg in Christian society, is very frowned upon. Also, most Christians think that looking for guidance from anywhere aside from prayer/pastor, is wrong and under 'worshiping other Gods'.

I am a Christian, but I believe that God made the heavens and the earth, so obviously, astrology is part of that. While I have absolutely no problem with it, most others do and get very annoyed/disgusted if you mention astrology.

well historically, christians have had plenty of use for astrology. and they were probably more devout than anyone THESE days, since the church was much more powerful then and people were BURNED for heresy...kings planned their coronations and all important dates around their astrologers calculations. i DO understand that it is considered a heathen science/art, but i can't get my head around why. your viewpoint makes sense to me...

I'm a pro astrologer and tarot reader and I moved next door to a christian 6 months ago( in england ) and he is not tolerant of what I do,he is never rude but is wary to say hello yet he has no probs with my other half who is "normal",he made it very clear to him that he did not approve of what I did, fair play to him for having an opinion,he hasn't tried to force his opinions onto me and I respect him for that but I know Hindu's who are devoted and their attitude to all things different is brilliant

I absolutely have no problem telling people I love astrology and, like AG, I ask everyone who even vaguely intrigues me to tell me their birthdate.

I get judged for it all the time, but I care-eth not. The pay-off of seeing the synchronicity/patterns of people's birthdays or doing (sometimes random) people's charts is far greater than some of the skepticism and judgment that goes along with it. It's a great way to learn astrology.

I actually come from a very Christian family, although I'm not Christian. But having grown up with it, I definitely know what that's like. Half of my family considers me a heathen but I learned to live with it a long time ago. I don't talk about it to them much mainly because if someone's not interested I won't bombard them with astro-talk.

But it never stops me from at least asking them a few astro-related questions once in a while.

**Also** I just finsihed having a conversation with one of my closest friends and she was making a joke about astrology - she makes ther same one every time. She tries to randomly throw in something about 'Chiron: the wounded healer' even when it doesn't apply to the conversation we're having.

I'm hesitant to tell people I'm into astrology because people generalize it as superficial sometimes. But these are the people that are oblivious to the depths of astrology. I would never tell someone religious that I'm into astrology, it almost as similar as when I say to someone I don't celebrate Christmas or any holidays!

Seems the opposite in my world where it's the mainstream majority who's into Astrology. I don't usually display that side of me 'cause you know, my head is bald but I am a hippie at heart.

According to my observations, just about anyone enjoys hearing about 'themselves' so if someone asks what sign they are and offers a thorough interpretation about their personality, they are ready to buy it We're living in a world where almost every newspaper, magazine, or daily news website has a daily horoscopes link. It's something people from any religion might be interested in. Because it can be lots of fun

With my friends , well with my girlfriends we sometimes look at websites , and with boys they are usually the ones to bring it up to talk about sex and compatibility They are more comfortable with it though lol !
