It's true, all relationships suffer from the humdrums ... relationships are work, even the most fun part - the romance

What do you do to keep the fire going or... or what does your partner do that melts your heart?

I wonder how astrological placements play a role in this, Auriel?

Seriously, tho, I think what keeps the fire going in any real relationship is a spiritual connection. Being able to talk about spirituality with your partner is something that never gets boring and keeps the love bonds intact.

But that's just my opinion(i'm a pisces, remember? In other words, spiritually biased on most things )

You know what's dumb? I read a whole book about this by Deepak Chopra, and I forgot everything. **** ! That's dumb. . .I will scour my ancient scrolls later to see if I can find anything worth posting.

Astrological placements between two charts that binds them?? Saturn is binding. Uranus gives you a magnetic draw to each other. Pluto adds a profoundness to the relationship. Neptune adds a deep level of communication. Then there are couples with none of those aspects and are together for the first time or who havn't been together in many incarnations. They have nothing heavy hanging over them. That makes it easier to get along, to go the distance together. The relationships with the heavy karma are the challenging ones, but their connection is much deeper. It all depends on what you want in life....

Then you have to look at what transits the couple faces during their years together. If they don't get repeatedly slammed by Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, then they have a much better chance of staying together.

I found my ol' Chopra book, Path to Love. Here are a few quotes that might be helpful:
"Passion is the energy that love creates with no object other than itself."

"The energy born of love is creative--it makes everything it touches new. To see how passionate you are, look around at what you have created."

"The source of passion is within yourself. When passion wanes it must be rekindled at its source."

Then it goes on about some esoteric stuff about the marriage between Shakti and Shiva, and so on. . .

I believe the bottom line is that passion is created from a level deeper than your ego self, going beyond sexual desires--but i'm sure you already knew that right? As Auriel said, it all depends on what you want from life, both of you. Working to create that,is just part of the process and if you love each other enough, there should be more than enough passion to get you where you want
