My grandparents and aunt (whom I consider my real Mom) gave me my name. I was born 10 weeks early and only weighed a bit over 3 pounds. The doctors didn't expect me to live. It was too much for my Pisces birth mother to deal with. She was terrified to come near me. My aunt and grandparents were the ones to visit me in the hospital daily. My grandma would pull me right out of my incubator to hold and rock me, and would tell the nurses to shut up and back off. (I get my feistiness from her.  ) Well, my parents never agreed on my name before I was born and I needed a name. Once I was born, neither name they chose, fit me. Everyone wanted to give me a unique name, because they didn't think I'd live. My aunt was a Shakespeare fan. She came up with a bunch of Shakespearean names. My grandfather pushed for Auriel. Auriel was a benevolent spirit that had an ethereal beauty, and was very mischievous. My grandfather said that fit me, and he knew it by the spark in my eyes. He's the one who told everyone that I was going to live and prove them all wrong, and I did. BTW, Auriel is pronounced Ar ee elle. Most people mispronounce it and call me Air ee el. ------------------

I don't recall Ms. Goodman's description of how we choose our names Karmically... What does she say about it?I do remember reading in Star Signs that because someone else chooses our name at birth, why then shouldn't we be able to pick our own later on if we don't happen to like it, or it's vibrations. ~Princess IP: Logged |

Auriel~ What a neat story, and I'm not a bit surprised you insisted on living YOu surely had wonderful grandparents Man, when my first son was born six weeks early I wish I had had the balls (age/wisdom) your grama had, but I was not yet 18 then and still believed everything a medical professional told me  ... I wasn't *allowed* to hold him except for a specified feeding time once a day *if* he was of the mind to try to suckle. I did finally put my foot down with his doctor on when he could come home tho!  He said, "Maybe Monday, if his weight is up." I said, "No, for sure Monday - I'm done with this! I want my baby!" He was already 12 days old when I brought his tiny self home  ~Princess IP: Logged |
