ok. I don't understand the uproar about free astrology readings or insights into charts. Isn't this what we do in the astrology forum?
I started using this site 6 or 7 years ago and left it for a while to come back recently and I have to say the vibe has changed alot. There is nothing wrong with free readings given to those registered in this site in my opionion. It's all part of learning and if someone wants to register just for a reading of their chart I don't see why that riles people up so much, I would do it free for anyone who asked me (although I'm not certified) in or outside of this site. So I would like to ask for the astrologers that run this site are you certified? If not then there should be no problem giving astrological guidance (in my opinion). If you are certified then are you using Lindaland as some form of advertising for your astrological services? I think it's ridiculous that some people come on this site niaeve or not and are denied some kind of answer because they don't have the funds upfront.
It's understandable that people don't have the time to do readings but astrology, tarot and psychic readings should really be given donations (according to Linda) and so can be given freely. This is a site that is a homage to Linda. Surely if you feel a person is taking the p*** then that person will simply get no replies.

I may be in the wrong here so feel free to tell me so.

Hi Quinnie,
I agree with your sentiment. Many people come here when they have a lot of difficulties in life and they seek hope that tomrrow would bring happiness. But I have seen that people think that you are a freeloader, trying to gain from their help. I had a very bad experience on the astrology link, with people getting personal and turning vicious. Sadly, one of the moderators too egged them on and it left me with a bad taste.
I am new to astrology and am still learning. It is a very vast subject and impossible to encompass in a few months. I stopped asking questions on the astrology link after that experience.
There are a lot of nice people too over here, they take time to help others and do so selflessly. My hats off to them. You people are the reason that I still come back here.
Pl. help us novices to understand this beautiful science so that we can help others too. Be kind to newcomers.

Quinnie - sadly I have to agree with you. I've been coming in since 2002 myself and have really only had a handful of people offer me advice freely. The vibe certainly has changed from the early days, but unfortunately you get shot down for mentioning that as well, these days.

I guess I keep popping in and skimming what information I can from other conversations. Then I go and research it for myself - it's how I learn, but yes, sometimes I would love to go here is my birth data, tell me about the next 12 months; but people respond with negativity, so I don't.

I hope others here will see this and lighten up a bit. And I hope the vibe in LL goes back to what it was - a sort of Nirvana among astrology sites

Funnyface and Cat71 you should never be afraid to speak up. Some people are treated with disrespect when all people need to do is not answer the post. Please don't let this put you off coming here because as we learn we can share our info. I am glad to offer any information I can time willing but what I REALLY want to know and I'm very strong anbout this is what astrologers here are certified?
Anyone wanting paid for their services should be... So Randall can you at least tell me that there are some people here who are certified otherwise then I will know that they are just being rude.

Thanks for your replies

Hey Randall - love your sig, but one question - what if you live in australia? AGH!

Quinnie - Yeah, don't know about certification, but if people are asking to be paid, that's like you said, an advertisement not a sharing of info - thumbsdown on that one (smilies not working for me...)

Hi Quinnie,
I think Geocosmic valentine and Belage are professional astrologers.
Geocosmic does free readings for people on this site, have not had any experience with Belage.

Thanks guys... Good to know. I am working towards eventually a certified astrologer myself but doing couselling course first. It's gonna be a couple of years before I get to study astrology. I respect them for being in that place.
Until then... Practise, practise, practise

i'm not certified - i like to give readings, it helps me gain a closer relationship and work with the higher powers that is and i like the idea of helping someone, somehow. it's all been a really good learning experience for me. i know how much it means to me to get a reading so if people don't mind that it takes me so long to get to it, i don't mind doing it. there are some very wonderful people at linda land who have given and given and given so much to others despite whatever hardships they have gone through and/or are going through. it makes no sense for someone to fret about not seeing their options clearly when there are places they can go to gain a better understanding of their situation. lindaland can be that place.

p.s. i've gotten a chart-reading from geocosmic valentine and she was awesome. i think about her reading often since it is still occurring - much of what she mentioned has happened and i've got months to go.

Amisha my case was merely that some people were being treated disrespectfully and thats it. Things I read in the forums made me want to ask that question. Like you said people are enduring their own hardships and it's fantastic that there is a beacon of light in a place like Lindaland. I admit I was too abrupt with my outburst but it was founded to a degree but I am not putting down the fact that everyone here does fantastic work and should be appreciated. Like I said I have admiration for those who can do readings. I was just a little annoyed by certain things being said (the hostility about lindaland at the moment) and I realise that I have contributed to it so please do not feel attacked because I am only saying that everyone deserves respect here. I do not feel that everyone should show their credentials at all by any means. Was just making a point. In any case it's fantastic to know that there are a few certified astrologers here that we can learn from.
Please accept my apology if I offended you.

Quinnie - i'm a little bit embarassed - my response had nothing to do with people being put-down for asking for a reading - and just imagine, i wasn't even drinking when i typed that. some days - my brain is like swiss cheese

all that to say, i'm not offended and i feel you have every right to express your insight - i'm just embarassed enough to tell you that, in all seriousness, i went off on a tangent thinking we were supposed to say whether we are certified or not (for some sort of need-to-know sake) and mention any referrals

i'm laughing at my own airhead moment and on top of that, mentioning it

btw - if you'd like, maybe refer some people whose chart requests haven't been answered to the Free Readings part of Lindaland - they may have been overlooked for any number of reasons. oh, before i forget, Lindaland also offers, along with some phenomenol chart readers, a Free Astrology Course area which is an excellent spot to stop by (btw, sometimes i want to look at a past discussion on a planet or placement and can't find it - i just ask the moderator where it is and they send you the link). oh - let me tell you - posting a chart is crazy when you first do it on here but after a while - it gets easy. i had to ask people of Lindaland how to do that and still - even today, i post a chart and it's really really small. lol. haven't learned to make it big. so, after that, once you put all of that together with a reading and, if you feel comfortable, respond back to your reading or your idea of what a certain aspect, sign placement, planet placement seems like it means/meant to you and i think it's like - 100 - for all parties because it IS a learning experience - the reader gets an example/confirmation of an aspect, placement or what have you and the person who requested a reading gets someone else perspective on their chart. sometimes people are a little timid when it comes to asking for a reading publicly - which i've been a few times - the person requesting a reading can put up an email address they can be contacted and someone will e-mail them.

and i should be going - i had too much caffeine and half a sandwhich today and it's already 8 - can you tell?

No worries Amisha I do a similar thing all the time. Right now in the astrology forum I posted about rectifying a chart to get the ascendant for a friend and I din't realise that there was a much bigger thread about this sitting a few posts away from the previous few days. Synchronistic but I should be reading first before I post lol
Now I know where to go about interpreting his chart, free course forum..
Thanks
