There is no way to confirm this other than by him confirming it, but there are several patterns in his chart suggesting that he's having difficulties with career or he had difficulties within the last 2 years, his father and maybe even his Mom if she is still in his life. So, basically parental issues.

One pattern suggests that one or both of his parents may have issues of substance abuse, perhaps alcoholism, etc. If his father was in his life for his entire childhood, the chart suggests that his father was extremely tyrannical or extremely passive. I'm leaning toward his Dad being a tyrant toward him, thus his suggestion that people are trying to control him.

There are 2 transits that are telling the story now. Transiting Pluto is currently squaring his natal Sun, suggesting incredible pressures are being put on him in terms of his early childhood home, his parents, and his own core life energies in a very dramatic fashion.

Transiting Neptune recently crossed his MC(Midheaven) which usually coincides with an ego-wipe out, confusion and tremendous shame can be heaped on you in the process. He may be having severe career vagueries, issues with health having to do with his back or eyes and toxins. But job issues, if he has one may be very confusing, almost like the "Twilight Zone" in character. The Midheaven also represents our father and with Neptune there, it leads me to believe that there may be illness or substance abuse issues with his father right now.

When transiting Pluto makes contact with our Sun, it is one of the most important times of our lives. It suggests forced changes, the kind you don't want to resist because the changes happen anyway. If he's trying to sever his connections with his relations, this is the time to do it, especially if his family of origin is so unhealthy that he can't move on with his life. Neptune is also symbolic of suppression and secrets, so the fact that he's not telling you what's going on is no surprise. He may have lots of shame around it all. Neptune also suggests shame. That might be why he keeps saying that he wishes that he met you at a better time in his life, when things are so unstable and unsure.

I may be wrong about this, but I'll take a stab at it. I don't think he'll leave next week because there is nothing triggering his natal Saturn, the ruler of his 9th house of long distance travel right now. Also, transiting Jupiter also rules long distance travel, Jupiter is retrograde in his 8th house, so I project that he won't be traveling anytime soon, but I could be wrong about that so don't bet the farm on that one.

That's all I can do for now, I wish him luck in allof his endeavors, he needs lots of compassion now as well. Neptune rules compassion, so he may be getting some coming his way.

The two transits he's experiencing are incredibly life changing transits, and the Neptune transit dealing with his job loss is tremendously difficult and it does bring up a lot of shame. It coincides with what's going on in this country. So many people have experienced this over the last 6 or 7 years because of the economy (the Bush administration) etc. I went through the same transit 4 to 5 years ago and my roommate who has the same MC as me went through it as well. He was happy that I am an astrologer so I could tell him what to expect so he could objectify it a little bit better. As it was happening to me, I already knew what to expect and how I would feel, but it still didn't take away the feelings and experiences. And I must add that the experiences are necessary for us to be who we are and for us to become who we want to be.

He'll survive this, it's just a matter of walking through it, there's no other way to get around it. I look forward to hearing what he decides to do and one thing I forgot to mention is that in the midst of it all, while transiting Pluto is on his Sun, in the end it empowers him tremendously. I know it all sounds complicated but he may need to know that he's got the power to do what he needs to reach his goals.
