*The Subject is not meant to offend. Just a joke.

I am at a point in my life where i feel lost. or i am not listening to myself. thinks feel so routine that I have lost interest in life. which is sad to say. am the type of person who believes that love is forever but now i find myself feeling entirely different now. it feels like my zest and overflowing optimism is gone. and i want it back deperately. I have been tryin to develop spiritually and i think that if I do that I will understand myself more. But I dont think that I can do it on my own.

For one I have read books on top of books about it. I dont know what is real or fake. and I dont have any experience so I wouldnt know if i did it properly or not.
I like to do things in groups and i think that if I had people who had experience, work with me in this that I would get somewhere. but it is hard to trust people. and I dont know to many people like those of lindaland in my area.

Any takers? advice? ideas?

hi MiaMammy08! i hear you, girl... and with empathy, may i gently direct you to please read my entry in the Soul Unions forum, regarding my personal testimony on the existence of one's soul mate.

i know that it could get incredibly lonely out there for us, especially for us who have been holding out for so long, waiting... waiting for what? that vaguely defined waiting for something or someone to fulfill this void in us. but you know what i discovered? i found out that i had to be comfortable in my own skin first. i had to enjoy being with ME first,,, or in short, find completion and enjoyment in my own company first, before THE GODS deigned to send me someone they deemed the right one for me. and by the time they sent me this someone, i was not feeling "lonely" anymore, honestly. i was already feeling complete and whole on my own. ironic really. but then, the gods always had this sick sense of humor in the 1st place... remember that depeche mode song?

"...i don't want to start any blasphemous rumours/ coz i think that God's got a sick sense of humour/ and when i die/ i expect to find Him laughing..."

anyway, Mia, if i've rambled and haven't made sense at all, please forgive me... just wanted to cheer you up and say that hey, you're not alone at all! the DALAI LAMA himself said, when asked what could be done in the face of enormous odds and troubles in the world, to SMILE, so there. SMILE, please!

Hey Miamommy
I have been there before. Lost, and not sure where to look or what to believe when it came to my spirituality. Since then, I have grown. I was speaking to a close friend the other day, and we were talking about various beliefs and theories and he said something like, "my truth is not your truth. Your truth is not mine. The information you come across is for you. You share with me and I share with you, but our truths are not necesarily the same..." So basically, what you need to know, you will find. Some information is for you, some is not. Some you may not be ready for until later, some you need right now.

My suggestion for you.. because this worked for me.. is to pray about it. I know that sounds so standard or whatever, but to me prayer is like sending out your energy for an answer. When I pray, I say My God. I don't pray in the name of Jesus Christ or any other God, because this makes it more personal to me. I also do not have a testimony of any specific god so, it feels right to me.Whenever I have prayed with this phrase and from the bottom of my heart, basically with feeling, with a real desire or need, my prayer has been answered.
I have prayed to find the answers I'm looking for.
Back to people's truths can be different, I can tell you what brought peace to me, but I think that this would work better.
I know you have said you have read book after book and don't know what to believe. Maybe you have not come across your truth yet. My suggestion: Center yourself, quiet your mind, whatever you want to call it, say a prayer if you believe in this, and go to a book store and just wander. Don't look for anything in particular except what you need, maybe ask where you should go.
This has worked for me. In different areas too.
When I found oe of my truths, I was doing this (I am still learning of course. I still have more information to find, my beliefs are not complete but I feel better. Not so lost.) I was wandering around the bookstore just picking up random books that caught my eye because I didn't know what I was looking for. I saw a bright neon green hardback book and I thought ..how tacky!.. Then I looked at the title and I was like ..uggggh how corny! Emotional Wellness??.. and I continued to look around, but this neon book kept catching my eye. So, I picked it up and added it to my stack. It turned out to be one of the most influential books for me. It spoke to my heart, made me feel at peace, said things that I had thought before but society told me I was wrong.
I hope that you can find a book like this.
Like I was saying, I believe everyone has their own information for what they need for personal/spiritual growth.
Keep posting, keep reading and keep searching.
