I wouldn't worry about meeting him during Venus Retrograde, just don't get married during a Venus Retrograde.

The synastry looks like you bring a giant shock of energy into his life. There's a strong attraction between you both seem to take committment very seriously. It may have taken you both time to learn about love and relationships, maybe you both came to it late, but now it's important to you both.

There are strong themes of freedom within your relationship, being able to give it to each other and not worrying about what the other person is doing.
