You need to be open to the idea of marriage, and have love in your heart before you can embark upon the ancient path of marriage. Commitment, trust, honesty and good communication need to be in your backpack. You need a great sense of humour to susatin yourself in your travels and a good amount of affection too for when you become thirsty.

Now you are ready!! But, is your partner?

Love and Peace,
Sunmeadow Glades.

Very beautiful Sun! What you said, I'm sure, is very truthful.

Aren't most marriages in India arranged?

Yes -- but not always in early childhood.

In the West, we still have "coming out" parties where debutantes look for mates... in India it's my understanding that young people may circulate socially in a similar way, depending on social status, and from those connections (parties where the parents are present, and meeting each other, to check the other family out too!) many arrangements for marriage are made.

Also, sometimes a younger child may not marry until an older sibling has married, although I think that's more important to Asian cultures.

Or pay someone else to do it.

How does one go about becoming a wedding planner? It's a difficult job. Wonder if there are schools?

I agree -- if not, there should be!

But I think that, as a profession, it's an individualized service that's still the territory of women who've planned their own marriages, or their childrens', then maybe other large parties such as fund-raisers. Kind of like how the first generations of party deejays, flight attendants, and travel agents must have started. Maybe they will start offering courses later on, training assistants as the business gets larger...

Just my speculations!
