If you don't know the exact time you have to account for the range of planetary difference in the range of time he could be born. For example, you'd discount the ascendant and houses entirely, the moon, mercury and maybe venus. If you're so determined, you could make a chart on a few spread out possible days and see the difference in degrees of the slower planets (that would be a lot easier with an ephemeris). Then make note of the aspects in synastry from those relatively unmoving planets of his to any of yours (presuming it is he with unknown birthdate, and you do know yours).
