Well, I think the answer I got, the Moon, had to do with the way you asked the question "should I even bother?"... I think it speaks about what you think, that the cards reflect your opinion and vision for the matter. It is how YOU see the outcome. I've had this happening to me a few times, so it is a possibility.
I'm counting more on the 8th of Wands, because the question was straight and wasn't influenced by your own emotions for this matter. The 8 of Wands is what will happen if you apply (you will get the job and find out about it fast). The Moon is answer to "should I even bother?" - there's a difference. The answer is dependent on the question and it is reflecting your own insecurity about getting the job.

I was confused by the Cups and went in that direction, of a possible romantic interest. But clearly I was going in the wrong direction lol. Sorry for the confusion.

I think the 8 of Wands IS the real answer. Remember how you say in your first posts when offering readings, to state the question clear, because the question influences the answer. The way you phrased it, you influenced the answer. This is why I drew another card. And I think this is the right answer.
The Devil + Moon speak of your insecurities and your paranoia, but I think they may be unfounded. And even if this person does try to sabotage you, you will still get the job.

What is your second question?
