This is a question based on a very amateur observation so feel free to shoot me down! But the fact that his significator's ruler is in your 1st house (you being the Asc in this) I'd say that's a sign he's still fairly invested in his feelings for you even though being (at the moment) 'square' to or at odds with the relationship, Merc being square to the Moon (the relationship) in Pisces???? Really didn't explain that very well but hopefully you get the gist of what I'm trying to say?

Might have completely misread that however!
