I like him a lot, but am keeping my distance because my previous relationship was unrequited and he broke my heart. According to house overlays, I think he just thinks of me as a friend. I would be so thankful for any insights.

It does look like it. Your main planets aren't touching any of the deep and/or romantic houses. Your planets are mainly in his 11th, he sees you as a friend. His planets in your 7th/8th, I can see why you are attracted. I wouldn't pin my hopes on this person.

The composite is a mess. It does not spell out for long term or mutual feelings. Theres way too much imbalance and instability.
