Hi guys

I would love if someone could have a glance at my SR for this year. I find that I have a tough time examining my own SR, especially when I'm going through a challenging time since I'm not sure what is objective and what is wishful thinking.

For example, Sun in the 7th house and a retrograde Venus in the SR 5th conjunct natal ASC - I would love to know what experiences people have had during a year when they had one (or both) of these placements.

I think that sometimes textbook explanations are not up to snuff when it comes to SR interpretations. For example, last year I had Jupiter in my 7th house and my partner broke up with me. Most Jupiter/7th interpretations say things like "marriage, weddings!!" and so on.

I also noticed that a lot of my SR planets are aspecting natal angles. Anyhow, any observations would be fab.

We have the same birthday! You're older, though.

I'm not terribly good at interpreting SR charts, but I'll give it a little bit of a go.

SR Sun in 7th, so probably a focus on relationships, coupled with SR Venus in the 5th... romance, fun, kids, creativity? Venus is retro, so maybe Venusian things might be a little harder to come to you? Jupiter is there, though, which would expand those energies. SR Venus falling in your Natal first house and Jupiter conjunct natal AC might show a bigger focus on yourself for the SR year. SR NN in the 11th and on your natal DC, I think, would show that to grow in the SR year you need to shift some focus to 7th and 11th house things like partnerships and friends/groups.

I did that kind of stream of consciousness, so let me know if it doesn't make any sense. Like I said, I'm not great at these, but felt like giving a go.

Maybe I should have actually read the OP before replying...

I can't recall if I've had a SR with Sun in the 7th or Venus retro, but I do know that my upcoming SR has Venus Rx, so I can let you know how it goes next year.

I think it's important to factor in all the aspects a planet makes. Did your Jupiter last year have many hard aspects to it? Looking more closely at this years SR, Venus is retro and squares Neptune, so I would watch out for wearing rose tinted glasses when dating. Sun sq Mars can make you more combative, so with the Sun in the 7th perhaps partnerships will be rife with disagreements? SR Mars lands in your natal 5th, too.

SR Saturn conjunct MC worries me, only because when I had Saturn transit my MC I lost my job. (I also had Solar Arc Saturn on my ASC, which might have played a part...) In your SR, it might not necessarily mean unemployment, but perhaps more along the lines of delays or struggles with your career or public image. Saturn does widely trine Sun, which should help, but it more closely squares Mercury.

Thanks so much for your reply Fondue! I really feel as though I'm in dire need of SR assistance this year (in particular).

You know, it's funny you brought up the Saturn on the MC because it was actually the one thing that I was weirdly happy about. I'm in the midst of transitioning from my old job to full time psychotherapist and it's going to take a lot of hard work so I'm hoping that's what that's all about. At some point I will technically change from one career to another though I hope it happens gradually!

As for the Sun in the 7th, that's the part I can't reconcile. My partner broke up with me in the fall and I moved out in December. I'm still in love with him and didn't want to end the relationship so I highly doubt that I'll meet anyone new. What worries me is that my focus will be all about 7th house matters for the next bloody year for no good reason at all.

I'm not sure about my Jupiter last year. Will have to take another look at it. But I can tell you that I was hoping it meant a proposal and really it meant that I got my arse kicked out of my home and away from the man I love (and my dog as well). So maybe there *are* some hard aspects to Jupiter.

I'm still a couple months away from it but I think I'm trying to prepare myself mentally/emotionally since I was so wrong last year. I'm much better at reading other people's SR's than my own.

I think you are right about the NN in the 11th. Does that mean I'll be leaving a love life behind completely since my Venus/Jupiter are in the 5th conjuncting South Node?

Thanks again for your responses. Very much appreciated!

So I had another look at my Jupiter in the 7th for last year's Solar Return and it had no harsh aspects touching it at all. It had a sextile from both Sun in the 9th and Neptune in the 5th and a trine from Pluto in the 3rd. I also had Isis conjunct Osiris in the 10th (which we have in our synastry).

Having said that, there was a grand cross involving Saturn in the 12th (ick), Mercury in the 9th, Moon in the 6th (in Aries, where my ex's Sun and Venus reside) and Pluto in the 3rd.

I guess this grand cross was infinitely more powerful than poor, little harmoniously aspected Jupiter...?

When I take another look at my chart for this year, I think that it seems as if I'm going to have to deal with a lot of old romance and partnership issues. South Node conjuncting Jupiter *and* Venus Rx in the 5th. And then I also have Karma in my 7th (though not conjuncting Sun), Moon conjunct Vertex in the 8th and Pluto at the apex of a yod opposing my 7th House Sun.

So yep, looks kind of grim on the romantic front. Like the Ghosts of Boyfriends Past or s'thing. Blah.

If anyone sees this differently than me, please pipe up. I could use the optimism

I had a peek at your solar arc progressions and secondary progressions. I'm still learning how to interpret those, but for Dec 2011 you had a lot of activity at your IC. Might be something else to look into to see what was going on when your relationship ended and you moved out.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I can help sort through this with you!

Thanks Fondue! Yeah, I'm useless with solar arcs. I'm okay with Solar Returns usually but, clearly, not my own. I'm mostly interested in learning about this coming year since I'm really hoping for a huge turnaround emotionally. But you made an interesting point about Dec 2011. That's when I moved out and that month signaled the end in a more real way for me. (a lot of denial suddenly got extinguished)
