An air void CAN be interpreted as having difficulty in detaching yourself from your feelings about a situation, person, or life in general, as you have already pointed out. In this case, look in your chart to where your DOMINANT elements are, which appear to be fire 1st and water 2nd. This means you are a very subjective person, as Air and Earth are said to be less emotion oriented and passion oriented, and lean more towards ideas and material pursuits, and what is physical.

Or it can go the complete opposite direction. You OVERCOMPENSATE for the lack of air in your chart. You can come off as aloof and indifferent, I've even seen this happen with water dominant people depending on what else is present in the chart to support this. You may put huge focus on intellectual pursuits and debate. A relative of mine has an air void and is water dominant, she loves to debate. But also you have placements in the 3rd, 7th, and 11th houses. This can help to better express the qualities of Air in your personality and alleviate the lacking of placements.

At the very least, you are unique in how you communicate with others, either in a fire-y passionate way or water-y indirect and subtle way. One thing for sure is that when you have a belief you may become obstinate in that it is hard to talk you out of it or maybe see the opposite side to it. Words may have a more important meaning than normal, or may mean nothing at all. In your dominant elements, you are comfortable in expressing them, but you feel as though you have less control when it comes to elements of Air. (communication, detachment, objectivity, ideas...the whole shebang I'm sure I'm missing a lot)

Someone also told me today the only Earth I have is Neptune in the 12th house, which is conj my ASC... any other takes on this?

only thing I could think of is that it's the reason I'm more metaphysical in my explanation of things....
