I have an issue of clinging to the past. Memories, especially EMBARRASSING or PAINFUL ones keep replaying in my mind, no matter how old they are. And I almost have a vivid image of what happened every time I think of them, and I feel very deep embarrassment or pain causing me to sometimes have loud emotional reactions (like yelling NOO i can't believe I did that). I have suffered from this ever since I was a child and it is fairly severe. This is fairly frustrating. Any indicators in my chart that influences this side of me? Any help or insight will be appreciated.

I don't know all that much about astrology however I do know that you are the only person who has control over your thoughts. A fraction of a second before you have have thought, you decide to and choose to have that thought. Regardless of the planets and what-have-yous within your charts that could contribute to your line of thinking and the direction of your thoughts, when it comes down to it, you are the only one who decides which directions your thoughts go.

Mistakes are inevitable for everyone, don't dwell on your mistakes, just learn from them. We all make mistakes and we all do things we're embarrassed by. Don't worry about it. Live in the present, look to the future, and leave the past behind where it belongs. Most importantly, control your thoughts lest they control you.

Good luck with the positive thinking!

You are extremely watery/earthy. You have zero planets in air or fire. You are literally drowning. Lol...

You have a cancer ascendant with moon in pisces conjunct venus and trine pluto. Besides Neptune conjuncts the descendant which emphasizes the already very strong PISCES influence in your chart.
Now I am not so sure about pisces but I know that usually water signs and water influence, especially cancer, have a very bad habit of clinging to the past and to memories. Moving on and change in feelings is very hard. They tend to remember how they felt very vividly and remember all the circumstances which triggered the feelings.

However there's a point I sort of misunderstand. Do you actually remember feelings of hurt and embarrassment? Or do you reflect on past behavior and then think to yourself "Why did I do that?" without it being necessarily embarrassing to you at the moment you did it?

Thank you for your responses so far everyone! And yes, I have such a strong water presence. To answer ueharaa's question, it is both. If I felt embarrassed or hurt at the moment, every single time I think of the memory the feelings will come rushing back. However, even if I didn't feel those emotions at the moment, if I at a later time find the situation to be embarrassing and/or hurtful, I will continue to replay the memory and feel upset too.

I see.. Does the same thing happen for other feelings? such as joy, fear, or love?
If you're someone who can easily remember all kinds of feeling then it would make sense that among them, you would remember the more hurtful ones, and that these would impact you the most (because it's human to be more affected by painful memories than more joyful ones). But I honestly don't know what in a chart would make one focus solely on painful and embarrassing feelings.

I don't know too much about this..but is that sun square saturn? because I have that and I also "live in the past". Although, I don't get embarrassed..that much at least.

I also have Sun conjunct Merc and I see even though you don't have them conjunct they're still pretty close to each other andd I have Mercury squaring Saturn as well.

But I think Sun sq Saturn is it here. At least that's what I have and noticed right away on yours..

Mostly pain and embarrassment, but sometimes love too. Thank you for your responses. I very much appreciate them!

Ahh that may be another reason. I don't know much about that aspect so I am going to look that up. Thank you!
