Hello, I'm curious to know if any career paths or specific fields show in my natal chart. My natal chart is posted below.

Hmmm... Something involving the 9th house is HEAVILY indicated (long-distance travel, foreign lands, philosophy, higher learning, expansion/exploration of mind and body.) Your work has to go along a certain "path", have a purpose, and a meaning to you.

Sun in the 9th
Mars in the 9th
6th house ruler (mars) in the 9th
10th house ruler (sun) in the 9th

------------------
Leo Sun, Scorpio Moon, Aquarius ASC, Year of the Earth Snake
"The Manticore is a mythological creature that is half-lion and half-scorpion."

hmm you know I never noticed the heavy 9th house influence as it relates to the work/career houses! That is interesting.

When I think of the 9th house I think of expansion and exploration.

Thanks TheManticore for your response - I see where you are going with the 9th house influences (like I said, I never even noticed that both the 6th & 10th (work & career houses) house rulers were there).

But there must be more than just "something of meaning"? I think this is the case for lots of people when it comes to their work.

If you go by just 9th house influences, then I would think of things like professor or philosopher. But I also think there's a lot more involved then just looking where the work/career rulers are located. What about aspects? or dispositors? or the sign on the MC? I can look at these things separately, but how does one put them all together to come up with ideas?

I'm actually kind of curious to know what specific career interests can be seen in the chart - if anything matches interests that I have or have had, and also if there are any I haven't thought of but sound intriguing. I've seen other threads on here where people offer their thoughts on what career path an individual must have taken or should take based on their natal charts.

I have Mercury in the 10th - and I've read that that placement causes one to go through many careers throughout their lifetime.

Hi cooljen,

The 10th is often said to point to our career, but I feel it is more correct to show what we are known as, known for, what people give us recognition/reimbursement for, and what our work goals are etc.

So career, usually covers it, however this can be confusing for people when they look at the types of careers associated with the sign and placements/aspects of the 10th.

I think you are restricted in going into a wider sphere of career for at least sometime because your 10th house is all about clotheslines, washing and folding, and housewifery. You will also study a formal and important degree chiefly from home.

There is a combination of dynamics between you and your husband (is it?). He is in two minds about wanting the traditional wife and all that it encompasses, as the cornerstone of domestic happiness and giving him societal standing - and on the otherhand, fuelled by your dreams, he is warming to the idea of you being a 'resource' in terms of bringing home the bacon, so much bacon according to the projected salary that you have in mind (once qualified and employed), yes so much bacon that he has some hopes of wallowing in the fat of your successful accomplishments, to the point where he would like to care less about his own work and eventually ease into a gradual retirement of golf, watching sports, and fishing. Eventually he would like to be like a big responsibility-less kind of man-baby that just eats and drinks and sort of wallows in a sea of leisure and food.

I'm thinking you might be a bit of a domestic goddess - great cook, handy hints and bits and pieces that you might even blog about etc.

You make a good comfortable couple as you also like to cushion out your life with comfort, food, and everyone feeling satisfied - good for you.

You both will have to watch for health issues to do with these indulgences however - such as pre diabetes and cholesterol etc.

One of your children, a son, will have the seeds of inspiration in him to excel and by-pass what you are warning him that he doesn't want to be - you have much advice on how to have a fit and prosperous life, and he will be dynamic in his aquirement of this until he is in his early 20s and it dawns on him - wait.... why am I busting my ar*se (ass for the U.S.), whilst you two (parents) are doing what ever you want to do.

I think the study/qualification will be related to mathematics/legal parameters, is it accountancy perhaps.

hmm interesting response! I'm not married so it was a little difficult to put that picture into perspective. I guess the 'husband' idea comes from looking at the 10th house? I don't know if I would consider myself a 'domestic goddess'. I mean I try to keep up my house and what not though.

I did find the 'have much advice' part interesting. I don't have kids but I have plenty of ideas on how to do things - ideas that I would eventually like to share.

definitely, from what I see, confined by a linen press (folded linen in a cupboard), and the strong male influence is due to you sort of giving over the 'keys' basically to him.

feels like a current situation or close to where you are now type of feel.

there are things like painting the walls etc on a budget, sending off coupons or similar or a home based type of marketing/buy/sell thing, and big meals like spaghetti bolognese, cheesy lasagne type stuff, and some convenience feel foods too like, a cheese filled roll, and like artificial cream pastry.

the domestic goddess stuff, is like particular things that you do above and beyond what someone else might do, sort of like such stuff as being determined to scrub old tile grout until it is white no matter how long it takes with a toothbrush. Or almost driven nuts by the thought of dust on top of a high cupboard, or the thought of cockroach baits in the spots where you put them becoming like this obsessive nightmare as you wonder when to change them or if they are absolutely foul - sort of like some domestic little details plague you to the point of obsession.

I still sense domestic goddess, particularly that folding thing going on - is there a folding 'penchant'?

Honestly I'm thankful that anyone responded to my question. But, I think I'm getting a little lost now with all the food discussion and folding linen. I don't know - I'm a bit bothered by that 1) I'm very picky, I don't even care for cheese at all 2) 'housewife' - no offense to any housewives out there - but I just wasn't raised under the mindset to be a housewife while some man 'takes care of me'. (My IC is Aquarius and my upbringing had a lot of focus on my education and my academic development so that I could provide for myself)

I was hoping there would be some career path ideas seen in the chart but I just don't see where this 'housewife' idea is coming from and now we are talking cheese and spaghetti and me folding linen - it just sounds completely off from me and I think we're going off on some tangent!

Maybe there's some explanation as to where this idea comes from? (like specific examples in the chart) Because I'm not seeing it and am getting lost!

well rather than getting lost, just disregard - no problem.

i can indicate where I get the basis for these traits from your chart, but if it is so far off what you think is possible, then I would rather leave it to someone else to interpret.

I hope I didn't offend you Chryseis or anyone else reading this. I really do appreciate you taking the time to look at my chart and offer your take. Its just that it seemed to me like we were going a different direction from what I was asking about, thats all. I, like many others on here except for a few, don't seem to elicit much response from threads created here, so I greatly appreciate anyone taking the time to offer their take on a chart.

As I mentioned before, I can see various influences separately but don't quite have the talent to put it all together into various interpretations - so forgive me for not following where the idea was coming from. It helps to me to know things like 'well from your Venus in the 10th conjunct Mercury....' and 'Sun in the 9th...'. Otherwise I'm not quite seeing it!

After reading through this again, I guess I am pretty particular about how I keep my place. I'm pretty tidy, that doesn't mean I don't have things laying around sometimes but I pretty much keep everything in its place.

I think the thing that really puzzled me about the response was that I'm looking more for actual work examples (things/careers you do for money) not just keeping the house together which is more something that I do just because.
