Indian feng shui? lol jk
Vedic Vastu Shastra is what I know more about. I can tell you about the vedi Vastu Shastra.

I know that you should NOT:

- Keep your back facing any door or window.
- Not have anything clutered, not even your garage.
- You should not have religious figures in the bedroom.
- Shoes outside or in storage not all around the house. (That's icky anyway. from a practical and germphobe perspective, I never really understood getting in bed with my shoes on. It seems so messy. :P ) a more practical way is to store them in the garage if your show closet is like mine too small.

You should:

- Keep 'chi' or energy flowing through the room.
- You should have neutral calming colors in the room. No, fashionable siren reds, or wild bright yellows. lol (Who likes those colors for wall paint? )
- Keep books on a stand/ desk/ shelf and never on the floor where your feet would touch them.
- Keep your room ventilated.
- Kitchen should be north east.
- Guest room north west/ west.
- Master bedroom south.
- Keep a religious figure at your front door or wind chimes.
- Your enterance should be calming and serene.
- If you have a bedroom mirror, cover it with a curtain and never let it reflect energy out the door or window. So don't let it point in those directions.
- Keep closets, cabinets, drawers closed when not in use.

Never place your stove facing the sink... It causes fights in the home between u & ur lover...no mirrors facing the foot of the bed (the outside world will get into ur personal business) those are a couple that I remember

Because the free energy that you receive from a window or an open door gets bounced or reflected back out. If you have mirror facing a door or window, you'll incur loses or find yourself in a rut or unmotivated.

Well honestly people think astrology and feng shui etc are all lumped into superstition. I guess you take what you need and ignore the rest? I'm not sure how to differentiate between superstition or not.

But my family says to me, "If it encourages or helps you in any way, then it doesn't matter if it's weird." lol Try it if it helps then don't worry about the title.

The directions are in general and should work for anyone. Having said that I know that traditional vastu differs from traditional feng shui in that respect. The feng shui has a division here where you need to find your placement as being north and south. I think it has to do with which hemisphere you are on. But in any case feng shui dictates that the directional placement is according to what group you fall in.
