Hi and hope you all had a most wonderful Thanksgiving. If someone would kindly give me some guidance, I would be so grateful as I am in a state of confusion about work and what should the next move be? I had been wanting for a transfer to the closer location since I would save on gas and the long drive and can take public transportation. The disparity in amount of work for my being so new is infuriating. I have seen new hires after me being babied since they are college grads. I had graduated quite a but ago. Anyway, I went on an interview for the closer location last month and did not get it. The manager and others I had interviewed with recommended me for another position. I interviewed a couple of weeks ago and an offer to work at the closer location came within a few days and I accepted. I am just waiting to know my last day at the current location. My manager has not said a word to me nor human resources as to my last day. Do you think my current location will offer me more $? Will it be nice or laughable since the last raise was a joke? Will I like the new location if you ultimately see me going there? Most coworkers at the current location are nice so I will miss quite a few. Any insight and what would be a best course of action would be greatly appreciated please.

Hi Pixie,

First I asked if you would end up going to the new location:

Queen of wands
Page of wands
Ten of swords

This suggests you will, but it will mean you have to go at a time that won't be that helpful to your current location and you will feel sort of guilty about it. The thing is, I think your current work will always make you feel that way. You may try somehow to sort of do both jobs just to ease the burden on the current, but it won't be feasible and I think you'll just hightail it out of there.

Will the current work off you more money:

Ace of pentacles
The Empress
The Devil

I don't think so, but I do think they will play at making out that they will, they are a funny mob aren't they - so dramatic and a bits of bs-artists. It's like offer you the world to stay but it just doesn't happen. One of the bosses thinks you are a bit of a good looker and he doesn't like to leave you with a bad impression - so he will make all sorts of demonstrative "Oh nooos...etc" Truth is he will miss you're efforts for sure but for some reason he thinks he might be able to SAVE money and is hoping the others step up to the plate and cover the work - he's a bit stressed though, and seems to run on a high strung feel like he is ready to bail himself at the drop of a hat.

There's others there though that think you should be offered more money and that the place is going to suffer with out you - I think the main person that thinks this is another female and if it was up to her she would promote you to some higher level of responsibility as well as increase your salary. She could be thinking of looking for another job too. There is quite an unstable air to your current work place in terms of people feeling close to a crisis regularly - though I think this is endemic and therefore a consistent theme there. They have a feel like they could be broke at any moment. And the guy boss has a feel like he could do the jump out the window wall street crash thing - though I think in the back of his mind is a quick getaway flight to the bahamas - he's a bit of a freeloading sponge type - good on the talk and the bs blah blah that looks like he is fun and has it all covered.

If the current place does offer you more money will it be nice or laughable:

The Moon
Knight of swords
The Wheel of fortune

I think the most of what will happen is a lot of talk about improving things for you with a carrot that says there may be more rewards down the track. I think you will have a cake when you go, and you will be in such a dilemma to stay as you like how the people around you get along with you and make you feel. Up to the last minute you will be hanging in there trying to help but eventually, you will realize, what the hell am I doing this for, my time is worth more than this - and you will basically just cut ties except for a few contacts that you will keep going. People will be missing you but will show you that they wish you all the best with the new position and basically be saying just go will you - but smiling - there is a sort of feel that the more they say how much they miss you and the place won't be the same - the more they realize that 'what is that saying about us that are left behind', so there is a sort of annoyance that makes them feel that they do want to 'step up to the plate' and get what needs to be done as they are not comfortable in contributing more to the talk that the place is going to go to ruins with the people still working there.

Will you regret staying on there if they do offer you more money:

Queen of swords
Three of wands
Four of cups

I don't think there is going to be a real offer, and I think someone, possibly that female is going to give you a talking to, and try to get you to realize that you need to forget about feeling responsible to the current place. I think you may consider, hinting to the management that you would be prepared to stay if they made it worth your while. The female will be trying to get you to see things realistically and understand that the bosses will probably not give you more, but if they do, they will probably just run you into the ground and expect even more from you. So to sum it up, after much angst on your part, and talking it over and over with others, you won't stay on there, and there really won't be much offered if at all, and it certainly won't mean an improvement if something is suggested to you, from what I can see of it.

Will the current location keep you until the end of January and then you can leave for the new location:

The Star
Four of swords
Nine of wands

There is a lot of wrangling over this on your part, and I think you will be actually nervous to leave, as it is not just about the money etc in your current location. You like the people, you feel successful in the work that you do - so these are big draw cards - and of course its a bit like 'the devil you know...' being preferable etc. So it somehow gets a bit drawn out, to the point that I think you will almost jeopardise the new situation - despite me telling you these things - because you strongly identify with much of the current location - it's sort of like the bad marriage that is talked about for twenty years and then you finally leave. However, I don't think it will take you that long! Though I do think with negotiation, explanations, and all that - because there is a lot of talk going on here - I think you will eventually make the shift in February, and the reason being is you will have put to others that you can't just drop everything. I think the current boss will help to smooth this as well and so everyone will be on board with you taking a bit more time to go. Meanwhile the main issue is that you will be finding it hard to go, however others won't really see it this way, and they will appreciate it - and it will be a plus for the current location. You do end up walking an almost too thin line with the new location - though eventually that works out well and it goes in your favour that you were so dedicated and they feel they have made a good choice with you - like you will be an asset to them too.

Will you like the new location if you ended up going there:

Ten of cups
Four of cups
The Heirophant

Definitely, and there are a lot of extra pluses. It will make it easier for you to get to the gym after or before work; there is possibly some kind of health plan or bonus that enables you to deal with stress - like it is an extra that you think you might even be able to offset the cost of massages, or therapies etc. I'm not sure if your current location had this too in some way, however, with the new one you can see that you might be able to take advantage of this option/bonus. And one of the main pluses, is somehow there is a likelihood that you will have to learn a new something or get an accreditation and this will be an advantage to your portfolio/CV. So ultimately you will find the new location lives up to the notion of a new bright start, as it feels like you will be able to have a better lifestyle because of it, and so you will feel more on top of things and also improve your working skills. And I think these ideas will be valid. You will miss your old friends of course, and I feel you may set in motion a bit of competitiveness and tension between the two sets of friends/workplaces - though you will be forgiven by the new mob as they like your sunny disposition and they think you are probably right with a lot of what you say - as you sound very experienced and level headed. When things are difficult at the new location, or if you are feeling insecure, you will still be wrangling over whether you have done the right thing. It takes a lot for you to move on emotionally and you maintain ties to previous situations for security. Be careful again, as you will end up walking a thin line with a few at the new location with this constant wrangling over whether you should have stayed there. It kind of insults them and makes them feel like they should have been better able to move on and be wholly committed to them. So yes, be mindful of your talk, might be better to express your wrangling over things to other friends or maybe just the friends from the old work.

Best course of action for you regarding the two locations or any other direction:

The Hermit
Eight of swords
Ace of cups

The new location is like a thoroughfare before you so it seems natural that you walk into and be part of it. You are not seeing the big picture though. With your age and aptitudes you need to do some dedicated career searching in newspapers etc. You could be doing a lot better within 1.5-2yrs. You are limiting yourself. Its a good thing you're getting out of the current sitch as you could have wasted years there with your type of dedication and personality and that would have been detrimental to your health. Drastic change is not required, but start looking and make it sort of a project. The prompt here is to take more charge of your superannuation if that's what it is where you are. You need to manage it or something similar like an investment portfolio and you need to figure in your strengths in terms of improving your super funds and hence you need to move on in your career and have a job that puts more into your super fund or whatever it is where you are. You will be having a family down the track if you haven't already started so you need a little bit of a plan happening - just an outline on how you are going to manage long term finances. The time is now to get on top of your career development. I would say make it a priority to keep mobile over the next five years by applying and taking one better job after another based on experience and your winning personality.

Oh Chryseis!!! Mwahhh XOXOXO!!
I loved your reading!
I wanted to give some preliminary feedback. Yes, I am wrestling in my brain. Chryseis, it is so much easier to do same old same old work. You know? Yes, right now is not a good time for the current location. Oh I am laughing about the bs artists bits.
New location-I will have to learn a new system. My saggy moon mouth might get me into trouble so I will be mindful and bite my tongue. The current location most are helpful and most I like.
Thank you from my heart.
Pixie
