Well I'm soon about to start college for the spring term, I already know that there shouldn't be any hurry in choosing a career so soon. I have heard stories how people found there niche after college it just found them or some never found that career for them. I kind of want to  atleast have  in mind what i want to pursue, I dont want to waste money on college fo nothing especially on the economy nowadays .  I was told to pursue something you have a interest in which I do, I have alot of interest so its hard to to figure which one I want to do. My main interest is watching criminology shows or just reading about cases and murders  i dont why i guess i like to read what makes people tick and make them commit the things they do. So i figure why not try Criminal Justice, it always have been in the back of my mind but I didn't know if it was it but know I feel happy I'm going in with this in mind in wanting to pursue in college. Then I have other interest like computers, I recalled to have taken automotive class but i was more into the electricity like AC,DC, Diode then working on the car itself lol. Then there art and motorcycles. I want to hear you guys input and see if theres anything in my chart that stand outs that backs up my career.
btw Does anyone watch Investigation TV im myself is a  addict l ;D

Hi Yvette,

Throughout my earlier schooling, and leading up to University. I did not have any permanent idea of what I wanted to learn about or ultimately end up working for. I chose a course that would provide a good degree and would hopefully be challenging. It did look to be interesting, but if I went purely on courses that were interesting to me, it would have been a fair bit further down the list.

I can only advise that first and foremost, you do not worry about the choice you make. Since you are in America, I presume, the education system there lets you major in one subject and minor in others. So switching focus is a lot easier, and allows you to get a feel for what you enjoy most.

Secondly, I advise you pick something that you find interesting, as you will naturally be more motivated to work a little harder, and put a little more time into your course.

Lastly, I don't know the exact figures, but at least in the U.K something like 70%+ of graduates get jobs that are not associated with their degrees.

What you study, does not have to and may not have any bearing on what you end up working for. I don't feel it should either. University/College is about discovering who you are, how you learn best, and showing others that you are a capable, competent learner, with the ability to pick up new skills and information through a variety of ways and resources.

If criminal justice, forensics, or other similar courses are what you find most interesting. Then that is a good place to start.

Just be wary... the more you find out about how criminal investigations are actually done, the more upset you may become with investigation TV shows where they may share little similarity.

Thanks for the advice I've been told that is not how it seem when you watch it get done on TV so I'm aware of that. I finally follow the advice someone told me in basically jump into something you find interesting and to me is criminal justice, I will like to minor in something but I'm starting out in a community college and it looks like they don't do minor in community college or that's just my school. I'll have to wait into I transfer I guess.
