Topic: Where does my vanity come from?

I spend lots of time and energy on my looks. I'm pretty particular and critical of myself as well. I was wondering where this might be in my chart? I know, I know - I'm a Leo. But I know Leos who aren't so vain. Is it perhaps they have something in their chart that makes them not as concerned rather than something in mine? I wouldn't change it - it's not usually a problem. I like looking nice. But I usually like to know where anything I can think of comes from in my chart so I figured i'd pose this question. For example - I'm really good with hair and pretty decent with makeup. I'm kind of the person people ask about that kind of stuff. I don't like looking extreme or anything - just put together and nice in a more natural looking way. I wear sunscreen everyday to prevent wrinkles, I deep condition my hair all the time, blahblahblah. I spend a lot of time on beauty related stuff. Watching beauty youtube videos is one of my favorite pastimes (besides astrology, chess, and poker) I have a friend who is equally as caught up with this stuff. I can post her chart too. (RAS - I know you're gona tell me it's because I'm a libra nametype :-)) here's my chart

It's the Venus opp Saturn, it makes you more self conscious and particular about how you come across.  IP: Logged |

YOUR FRIEND'S CHART: Notice the ASC is in Libra, the sign that emphasizes perfection of the aesthetic, and looking balanced and beautiful, of Aphrodite. Venus, the chart ruler, falls in Leo, and is elevated highly near the Midheaven for all to see, showing she can enjoy having a nice appearance - and showing it off. It's far from under wraps. Yet its opposite aloof Saturn in Aquarius near her IC. Perhaps in childhood she felt an even greater self-doubt about your appearance that has made you feel a bit obsessively unsure about how good you actually look... it's not vanity, per say, but focusing on the looks sometimes because she feels unsure of her true beauty? The Saturn aqua opposition actually tones DOWN the vanity of Leo Venus somewhat.
YOUR CHART: Your Venus falls in an out-of-sign conjunction with Chiron, showing beauty and love, more importantly, is pain.... sometimes good, sometimes bad. You might feel you give yourself up to an altar of love/or for beauty. Once again, like your friend your Venus is opposite Saturn. I can see where the semi-strict healthful routines with the 'natural' look you described for yourself coming into play there, since Saturn can equal healthful restricting at best. It's practical beauty, which is very Venus-Saturn.

Hey - thank you to everyone for your responses. That all makes a lot of sense.It's interesting and I forgot to add this in but kind of thought it was somewhat seperate but her and I both had eating disorders that seemed to develop and get worse around the same times in our lives - although we didnt know eachother really til the tail end of our disorders. (Her and I talked about it tonight when i was with her so it's fresh in mind again) The Venus/Saturn thing makes a ton of sense. Bc her and I are very caught up with looks but neither of us ever, ever want to risk coming across overtly sexy or anything like that. IP: Logged | |
