Ok.... So I have posted my chart on here before. I am still trying to figure out how all this works. I hear that your chart is a "map" to your life, well I'm trying to read the map... lol... So any insights you might have would be SUPER appreciated.

Problem: I am finishing up a doctorate degree in biophysics and feel that I am working really hard at something I am ok at. I keep getting really awesome opportunities in more creative fields. I tried the modeling thing and acting thing when I was in undergrad and left it because of the perceived lack of "stability." People told me I was really good at acting but nothing I do is ever good enough for me. I'm really self-critical.

Anyhow, I am now trying to figure out what to do next, I was wondering if there is anything in my chart that would indicate which direction I should take. Should I pursue an acting career? or should I remain in science? I have stories/poems published too so maybe that could be another direction?

What do you guys think?
PS: I loved the ASC/ photo posting topic. I had to post my picture too... I am told I come off super Scorpio like and according to astro.com it's my "ruling" sign... I don't know what that means.. .lol Whatcha think?

pisces in general, particularly a pisces mars, is a sign of great artistry and intuition (and yes, self-doubt)- many artists have that placement (visual artists/painters, etc.) it is a sign of immense creativity, and paired with a pisces moon you will undoubtedly be blessed with creativity and the ability to realize that potential. your pisces planets are also clustered in the 11th house, which is an indicator of outward accolades/success amongst peers and the public in general. that house generally represents good career prospects in the sense that 'people' and 'the public' will look upon you favorably. not sure why you think you're scorpio?? your chart ruler is venus, since your ASC is taurus - scorpio/pluto is likely the co-ruler since that is the first major planet placement after your ASC. i would not tell someone to give up a career that they have already dedicated so much time to, but your chart does show a more creative lean and you'd likely be quite happy following creative pursuits. i think your desire for stability will be a constant point of concern for you - your saturn in the 7th is sitting almost right on your DSC; saturn is a very restrictive/cautious sign and placed in the 7th house you will definitely be desirous of stability in your life, relationships, etc. pisces mars, from my experience suffers from inertia/laziness more than most signs, so whatever you do don't give up on whatever you choose because the only way to achieve things is by continuing to try. hopefully others will chime in :-)

Thanks so much for your response. I went into academia out of fear. Science is easy for me, or at least I see how to get from point A to point B and I can be lazy and still make progress. I am lazy and I am working really hard at discipline.

My heart tells me that I belong in the arts somewhere but I am terrified of the camera. So I am working on it. I started to put a TV pilot together. I would love to teach kids science, especially as it relates to public health, nutrition, global climate change... etc... I don't know, I find it much easier to get things done, when I don't do it for me. I need a "greater" purpose. As far as relationships go, they aren't for me right now.

I feel crazy for trying to jump into television with my intense stage fright... but it feels right and I love children... don't think I'll ever have any but want a career involving them... this sound ok with my chart?

Thanks again. I'm extremely scared to make this move but all of the opportunities are there, my friends are super important in my life and are all somehow in the entertainment industry. It's really bizarre.

Oh and about the Scorpio thing... I have no clue... Astro.com says Venus is my ruling planet and Scorpio my ruling sign, followed closely by pisces and then aquarius. Venus is my ruling planet followed by pluto and then saturn.... :/ Don't know what any of it means... it just sounds intense to me...
people always say I'm super intense.

The ruler of your 10th, Uranus, is sitting in your 7th in Sag. So this has to do with religion, education or travel (on the Sag side) and partnerships (on the 7th side).

You may need a partner for your work, or maybe have a joint business with your spouse. You could be a teacher of a subject related to marital life (something like a marriage counselor). Or a minister who weds people. Or a travel agent for couples.

He's getting hit by Mars though, which means it's very hard for you to overcome momentum and actually start doing something, because you don't believe in yourself. This is where a partner comes in, who believes in you.

I do get more work done when I am in a supportive relationship. I'm not big on religion however, I like to "know" things. I do believe in spirituality and consider myself extremely spiritual. This Mars in pisces thing is a huge problem for me. I have no idea how to overcome inertia or the anxiety of "not being good enough." Hmmm... I am not in a relationship and probably won't be one for a really long time. My south node conjunct my saturn in the 7th too...

I don't want to make unrealistic plans and I really do feel happiest when I'm surrounded by creativity. I wish there was an easy way to make these kinds of decisions! Any advice on dealing with this wack mars in pisces?

Btw thanks for taking the time to look at my chart. This is very helpful...

I hope you finish your PhD especially if you are almost done, it will come in handy. I made a similar shift and at times I feel like its my only saving grace - i.e. beyond a foot in the door, it most often flings it wide open. Good luck!

Oh I am for sure finishing. It's stupid not to, I have all the data I need. It's a matter of writing my thesis now. I have a block though because I don't know what to do next and that scares the mess out of me. And I don't want to stay in research if I could do something else that I really love. But I also know that in real life, many people don't have that luxury. You work with what you have. But I won't ever know if I don't try. Feedback is helping me see other perspectives. Good stuff.

Did you move from academia into the arts? And what do you mean by it being your saving grace?

Not academia per se, still in academia, but moved from science to the arts.

Otherwise, just what I said, more often then not, the degree ends up flinging the door wide open, where as, it would likely only be a foot in the door otherwise. I.e., sell the degree - people in the arts appreciate cross-pollination. You are an 'expert!'

Hug and congrats on getting there with the PhD - no easy feat!

Thanks for the advice and encouragement. A PhD is NOT easy... Made me truly have to face my Sun square Pluto & Jupiter square pluto... I had no clue how huge my ego was... but in order to survive it, I had to really humble myself and accept that I don't know everything. Smh... That was probably the hardest part. Getting your mind intellectually spanked everyday is NOT fun... I've grown a ton and I can think about problems and problem solve. I also laugh at all the weird science misconceptions on TV.

But I guess you do have a point, it could be a really great thing professionally. I end up dating the artistic types and they can't handle the PhD thing... but maybe it would be helpful in a more creative career choice... hmmm..

Dating an artist versus being an artist are two separate things.

A lot of what you learned, research/grant writing as well as management and organizational skills will be helpful.

I feel that if you still feel uncomfortable you could find a common ground where you could use your PhD and combine it with a more creative aspect such as TV. Philly is close to NYC, there are plenty of media jobs there, especially new media ones. For example, Nat Geo and the like.

Regardless, good luck; it will all work out. (I feel like if you can finish a PhD - you can likely do anything you want - endurance and perseverance.) Keep us updated!

I think I was searching for the creativity in someone else because I was too much of a punk to do it myself.

I have learned to think clearly and practically and deal with a crap load of critism. I also feel that I've lost my social skills. I live under a rock. But I am planning to just uproot and make a run for Los Angeles. If I don't do it now, I never will. I feel like I need a huge drastic change, but again scared out of my mind. Figure I have tons of opportunities in California in either academia, industry or TV. Or at least I keep telling myself that.

Thanks for the advice. You are right.

Last question...

Ruler of pisces is Neptune right? I have a Neptune in Cap squaring moon/venus/mars... Any clue as to how that will play out in my pursuits?

Thanks again!

I just feel ready to tackle the issues that are getting in the way of my aspirations. This PhD is helping with the chiron Gemini... I have a hard time articulating thoughts in real time... So I started taking classes for it... Etc...

Anything else indicated in my chart that could potentially get in my way?
