This is a very fiery combo - I could almost feel how wounded he feels! He sees you as confident, assertive and independent but whatever you said to him came like a bolt out of the blue and really knocked him for six (to use some cliches). He has closed off from you completely and retreated to lick his wounds. I can imagine that at the moment no matter what you have to say he just doesn't want to hear it because it's too fresh in his mind and his ego is still bruised.

Don't race in but bide your time and the opportunity will come - healing takes time and some things can't be rushed. Again I think that things aren't going to be put right with a click of the fingers and The Moon suggests that there will be a feeling of haziness/ lack of clarity about the situation as you begin to repair your relationship, probably a time where you think he's probably forgiven you but you're not sure, and he thinks he's forgiven you but he's not sure, something like that. One day you might be sure he's forgiven you and then the next he might say something to suggest that he hasn't. That sort of lack of clarity. Each not being sure what the other thinks, and probably not even knowing what you think yourself.

What would you gain from trying to put things right between the two of you?

Ha the first is easy to interpret - I think you will gain inner strength by facing up to him and having faith in trying to put things right. So this speaks of personal development rather than an outcome. Placed next to the Two of Wands (reversed) the combination make me think of redressing the balance,cause and effect, and having the strength to progress when things might not be easy, coming out of the other side stronger etc. I can't help but harken back to the first reading though, where the Two of Wands (reversed) partly described his feelings for you. A recurrence of the same card suggests to me that you will be moving on 'carrying' some of what has gone before, but that is probably to be expected. Forgive but not forget, perhaps.

When would be the best time for you to start to approach him?

Timing seems to be a woolly art, so I will just say what comes to mine and hope that my cards speak my language

I intepret these in two ways. The combination conjure up an image of summer to me and The Moon always makes me thing of Cancer (July). The six on the first card with the The Moon signifying 'month' would also suggest to me June, though there's loads of ways you could interpret the two cards together. This is what feels right to me. So, I would say summer, or slightly more specifically June/ July. It sort of fits with what I felt before, that he isn't ready yet and that would seem a reasonable time scale.

My other interpretation of them was less literal. The Six of Cups (reversed) speaks to me strongly of forgiveness and moving on in itself, looking to the future. Combined with the haziness of The Moon I would be inclined to say that there isn't going to be a definite 'right' time but it is more blurry than that. It will be in his own time, whenever he is ready to come round to the idea.

Bottom card: The Devil

If you don't try and put things right, you will not be free of the situation!

The three Major Arcana cards are the ones that shout to me - you will gain inner strength by facing up to him and trying to put things right, there is not going to be a definitive 'right time' because emotions don't work that way, and if you don't try put things right you will remain tied to the situation!

I decided to ask for you anyway, because I think that whoever/ whatever is answering my cards seems very insightful! Not that I have any concept of what it might be that is answering as honestly I'm a person of science and I can't get my head around it!

Anyway, I asked what the purpose of your relationship was and I pulled these cards, which almost made me laugh out loud because it was so visual:

I think the purpose of your relationship is definitely to teach you a lesson, whether you call it karma or soulmate or whatever! Three tens too, interesting!

What comes up must go down and vice-versa. You can oscillate between the depths of despair and the heights of happiness (how poetic) but none of it is permanent and you just have to learn to ride it. Enjoy the moment or know that things will look up. So no matter how dire things seem it will get better, and unfortunately vice-versa.

I take The Fool (reversed) as the trigger to this turn of the wheel - perhaps a foolish slip
