Which tarot deck would those of you who are experienced suggest for a tarot newbie?

I'm really interested in tarot and always have been, I just don't know where to start..

Radiant Rider Waite if you like bright colors . I heard good things about Hanson-Roberts Tarot deck, but I don't like it. It's small & cute, but I dislike the colors.

Classical Rider Waite or well anything golden dawn based (robin wood, renaissance - haven't used these 2 but they are similar to rider iconographically)

I love Robin Wood, too.

I don't think this one would be too good for beginners: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/renaissance/

I learned from a Robin Wood deck and I recommend it. I think most people would recommend Rider-Waite and I would have to agree because it outlines everything nicely but I actually can't stand looking at that one lol.

@ Empress you're right, it's not very literal. There was defo another one, you know rider poses/ scenes but different dress and decor

I am myself not a massive fan of robin wood imagery, but for those who dig this pagan symbolism it should work like magic.

@ happyaskings: why can't you look at rider, what's wrong? I know there are two types of people those who dig it and those who hate it, no oneseems indifferent

Haha, I don't like the classical one (due to colors). I like the bright one much better (Radiant RW) basically the same, just with bright colors

My all time favorite is Morgan-Greer though. The card stock is bad.

I have another one it's called "Teach Me Tarot", it has words written on it. I used that one to answer yes/no questions in the past & was accurate, but I don't use it anymore.

My least favorite is Gilded Tarot - can't connect with that one to me it gave inaccurate readings. Ugh the drawings gave me a headache. I basically gave it to my daughter to play with, lol.

My first deck ever was this one: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/spanish/

Bought it at the "Botanica" where I first got a Tarot-Psychic reading almost 10 years ago

Empress! That site is awesome!!

Thank you all for your responses

I looked at the Rider Waite and I like that the cards are easily identifiable. Seems good for beginning.
I'm not sure I feel the colors/imagery of the Robin Wood deck they had available on aeclectic.net. They just don't really appeal to my senses.
This deck speaks to me http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/druidcraft/ I really like it.

Ooo and this one: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/joie-de-vivre/ I think that one is my favorite so far! It seems..optimistic in it's style and coloring. Reminds me of childhood book illustrations.

Those are lovely choices
The Fantastic Menagerie also has a children's book feel to it if that is what you like best http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/fantastic-menagerie/

I struggle with reading RW. Part of my readings are based of feelings I get when drawing the cards and when I use RW I come up blank. Nada. I also usually am able to pick up on new/different things visually every time I pull a card which helps me with whatever I am reading about, but with RW I just get the same messages over and over again. I think it's a good deck to begin learning because everything is laid out and there's nothing distracting, but I personally have a hard time connecting with it.
