Thus, I can understand its easy for us to get stuck in a mental mind frame of - "well maybe its just not meant to be." My advice is to not get stuck in this sort of mental box of things like that. It can be damaging and hurt is if we let it. When it comes to things like destiny (in my opinion) is that none of us really know what kind of power destiny plays in our lives. Sometimes I think we give it too much credit. Destiny may well have introduced you to this person, but left it up to the two of you to take things from there. Nothing happens without a little bit of effort. Though, of course I don't know much of the detail to which your referring.

As for your placements. I don't see why it couldn't work. In my experience neighboring signs can work really great together. I'm a pisces and I love aqua's and have met some great aries. And I have known long-lasting couples that have neighboring sign placements.

His Venus conjuncts your sun, that sounds great! He may just be intimidated by you as his ideal. Your Venus sextiles his sun this is also a great aspect! You both have mercury conjunct natal sun ...so your both probably good communicators as far as expressing yourself. Again I think this is good. You also have sextiles moons your moon makes you very passionate his moon opposites his sun. With his sun/moon opposition he can be a hard guy to understand at times. But the moon sextiles should make you both interested in eachother, but also make you both weiry of assessing each others level of interest. Your both probably just unsure of how eachother feels. When and if things progress it will get easier over time. And h*ll that's the exciting part, right ? you both also have mars in Virgo - boy (!) Mars in Virgo can be very shy, get discouraged easily and cautious. My guess is you both are just waiting for the other to make a move - subtle or not. They also seem to think they're making "moves" when they're really not that obvious. The intimacy...when and if you guys reach it should be nice. Someone just has to take the initiative. I also think cancer rising can be hard to read sometimes with Leo moon they seem to be hot and cold or like games of cat and mouse ( no offensive) ..he may just not see your interested in him. But no I don't think its doomed at all!! I think it can work, someone just has to take the next step. Oh, and your moon trines his sun which can be quite beautiful.
