Hi,
Here I have a question with a person's communication style. A brief background. He's a friend of mine who is a very warm and jovial person. He has this peculiar and funny way of not responding to his messages/phone calls many times. The thing is he doesn't make it a point to respond or reciprocate the calls or messages even at a later point of time or worser, never asks about it when he talks again. This sometimes makes me think he lacks courtesy, though he is a very friendly person otherwise. I find it very funny coz we generally return calls/messages at a later point when we aren't able to do so immediately due to various reasons, right? So out of curiosity, to understand his psychology, I drew cards asking why he doesn't respond or reciprocate the calls and messages. It was

The Sun
Knight of Pentacles

1. I read somewhere that Knight of Pentacles are pointing to astrological signs Virgo/Taurus/Capricorn and surprisingly he is a Virgo man. Are the cards telling me that see clearly with The Sun that he's a typical Virgo guy? If so, in this context do anyone see any traits of a Virgo in him? If at all, is it pointing to me the Taurus woman?

2. Or any other traits of Knight of pentacles in this context? I see this tarot character as a little slow to react when compared to other knight cards. Other than that, I read only some good points with respect to this Knight, say honest, responsible, etc.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey Cathy,

I would say he is blissfully unaware of the fact you expect that. It's probably part of his character and I expect him to be the same with others. There is absolutely no harm or bad intention in it. He heard it, took it in and probably just focusses on his work again. Or at least that is my impression of these cards.
I don't think you should 'seeing it correct' at this point, because you asked for his reasons.
Just try to mention it sometime to him. I'm sure he will be like: what? I never...? Oh, right...

Hope this is of some help

Hi Cathy, I would think he might like to give the impression that he is oblivious but in actual fact he has found that holding back works best for him - it tells him a lot of info about how you feel about him, your emotional reactions, how much you are prepared to put up with, and possibly he may even be considering whether you are a doormat or whether you are just really open and giving but still a strong individual.

Holding back and not writing responses but being really nice to you at other times is a very successful approach to keeping someone dangling on a string.

Hi Twirl, Yes I too have the feeling that he is the same with everyone else too. But, is everyone tolerating this behavior? :P I remember once asking him about this and he answered me that he was busy with some stuff that he couldn't respond at all etc. I somehow feel he's not able to tolerate a delay at our end. I once sensed that he became restless when I didn't respond to his message immediately for a particular situation. Though he doesn't show his restlessness openly, he would indirectly show it. So I feel there's something hidden with this person. Apart from this, he is definitely a nice person.

Hi Chryseis,
The things which you have said are those which made me ask the cards for explanation I feared if I'm overthinking them. Are you telling these attributes in reference to the cards which I drew or with the nature of my question?

No. That's what I thought. No need for game playing. I really think this is how he is. Also then just continues with his daily routine/work.
Sun is a lovely card and that of self expression, being truthful and innocence among others. I don't see anything hidden in it. In the bright sun light actually all becomes clear.
I know similar people and also I noticed this style of communication became quite common with all the text messages, social media, e-mails and mobile phones. It's just impossible to reply at all instantly (or at least that's how it works for me. I personally make time once a day to answer the urgent ones (not immediately), because if I reply on all that comes in, I just never come to anything in real life.
That's how it works for me though. You could still bring it up to him. His description reminds me a bit of my gay friends (all drama and instant reactions needed when they have something, but very chill and laid back when it comes to other people's stuff). So yes, could be he is rather self centred, but not on purpose
Hope this makes some sense to you

In conclusion:

why doesn't he reply?

Answer: bit self centered, busy with himself and his own stuff.

Yes, I understand the mode of communication we generally do. If at all, we at least try to recollect or say a word about a message/email that we weren't able to respond when we meet them right? But this doesn't happen with him. He simply forgets to even ask or tell a word about it and simply starts a new conversation LOL.
I did sense that he wants things as he prefers it, but really is not bothered what others want of him, kinda self-celtered. U are right. Uh, people are so complex to understand. Thank you Twirl for your views.

Welcome As long as you know that of him it is no problem. Then you can alter your expectations. In other words: don't call him when your house is on fire, but do for the after math and needing distraction (so he can fill you in on all his adventures, all brought to you in a jovial way and he can shine like the sun he thinks he is)
