What does it mean if your second house is in capricorn? And cancer? I always associate cancer and capricorn - cardinal signs - with material success, career success and wealth accumulation. How true is this? IP: Logged |

It means that Saturn is the ruler of your 2nd house, and you have to see what he is doing in your chart. For me, (yes i have Capricorn on the cusp of 2nd house), my 2nd house is rather "lunar", as it contains Moon (though in Aquarius) and the ruler Saturn is in Cancer in 8th house. I do not associate the 2nd house so much with material success (though it is one possible symbolism of it), but the basic meaning is about Values and selfvalues. In my case it changes with the phases of the Moon, and I am very emotional and sentimental when it comes to things I value; usually those that remind me of people or places I feel a strong attachment to. Money is not one of these things though. I prefer to have it, as it gives a certain freedom and possibility to afford the things that I want, those that are of emotional value to me, but that is about it. IP: Logged |

I don't know too much about this, but I think you should also look for where your Taurus is. IP: Logged |

Lol. Okay. And now wait for the experts to come in and comment on that. Both my Taurus and my 2nd house ruler are in the 12th and afflicted, so I have started contemplating on marrying a rich man after all, lol. IP: Logged |

It's one or the other so I would say sixth. Venus rules the sixth so find where venus is. Sixth house relates to routines, health & how you work. Capricorn ruling the 2nd house I would think would related to steady income flow. You can be frugal, practical & ambitious. With the moon placed there, you may find yourself emotionally attached to your belongings or how you make money & your well being is dependent upon that. IP: Logged |

Nope. Depends on the housesystem used, if it is one or the other or not.My 5th and 6th house cusp are also both in Taurus. Well, if I were interested in the income or possible richness of a person, I would actually check the 2nd house foremost. However, not everyone who has an active 2nd house, is going to be rich (in money) though.

my 2nd house is cap and my cap moon is in the 2nd too. I am all about money :-) i like planning for retirement and i like accumulating money for trips and gifts and luxuries. i kind of associate this placement (2nd house) with 'smarts' about money and accumulating it for a purpose - whether for emotional well-being, maintaining a lifestyle, being solid in retirement, etc. it's definitely about how you manage funds. but i think how you view money would be determined by sign placements in that house and their aspects. my moon trines my 10th house stellium, so for me, money will come from my career. the cap/Saturn placement in the 2nd would make you (likely) more cautious with funds and not as frivolous/spendy IP: Logged |

perhaps someone else will help out with the interpretation, since i'm not an expert. i don't think anything in the 2nd is negative though, unless the planet is in opposition/square to another. the 2nd house is usually a favorable house position, especially for mercury. i have read that it means you'd be well-liked/believed when you speak and that money might be made by way of a career in communication/media. since it's Capricorn, it would probably make you fairly organized and methodical when you speak - a no-nonsense, business type of person. with venus there as well i would guess that you'd be drawn to luxury - in people, art, etc. and search for partners who are perhaps wealthy themselves. in saturn/capricorn everything is approached really cautiously and with that saturn restriction, so you're probably going to be interested in meeting someone of 'value' - someone with shared goals of wealth/building wealth. Sorry to butt in @hobbit, but doing it anyway. Bad manners, oh me oh my. @Ceri, was hoping you'd look at some charts for me - trying to learn more about yods and kites in composites? I posted below/here for Chryseis, but lmk if I should make you a separate thread - of course, if you are willing. (I feel that you are the reigning expert - no expansive exaggerating in this regard.) Thanks in advance. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum11/HTML/005855.html IP: Logged |

Though in exchange for my rudeness a contribution: A second house Capricorn makes a person practical, steady, responsible and ambitious in monetary matters. People with this placement are self-discipline and possess high wisdom. They do not spend money foolishly or impulsively. Their expenditures are mostly based on basic needs and things that have lasting value. A second house Capricorn suggests prudence and practicality in handling money. No matter if the native is a wealthy person, he will always be careful about his expenditures. Such a person always doubts his earning potential and so lives a life with “poor” complex. People with a second house Capricorn are very open-hearted, cautious and practical in life. They are not at all inclined towards leading a materialistic or luxurious life. They tend to reject luxury and an expensive lifestyle. A second house Capricorn intensifies the ambition and drive of the native as far as his financial life is concerned. Natives with this combination have an intense desire for money. It gives them a sense of security and stability. The native has a natural talent for the regulation of expenditures, but he must be careful not to be over-cautious as this may deny him necessities. On the whole, the native with a second house Capricorn is not able to enjoy even self-acquired money. The native's early life is generally marked by a scarcity of resources, while the later years may be distinguished by a certain abundance as the is scared to spend it. People with a second house Capricorn are very ambitious and born with high determination power. Their goals make them feel safe and secure and accomplishing them gives a sense of satisfaction. There is a possibility of over-achievement and success in life which can lead to karmic disturbances. Natives with a second house Capricorn are reserved and self reliant. They believe in achieving success independently. The Mercury and Venus could likewise mean a host of things, you could make money off of communication and love for example...I think it might be helpful to post a chart for further interpretation. Otherwise, it is just a very small part of your whole make-up. EDIT: That is, you could also look into where your 2nd house ruler is in your chart to determine the situation further. i.e. we know your Ascendant is in Sag now, but what of your other planets and how they aspect with each other?
