I have been asked to attend a family wedding in Washington DC next week which I thought I couldn't because it seemed absurd to travel from UK to DC for 3/4 days. But the family member has taken it badly and I wonder if I should. Lots of pros and cons (including cost). Have cast a horary as last resort. Could someone please advise.

Moon is VOC.. I think you already make your decision and not gonna change it. Mars is also in your detriment, so taking this trip would somehow be detrimental to you, probably financially.

It seems a no to me.
