Oooohh I'm sorry to hear that Jenny. I pulled an oracle card for you as some support. It's a card about boundaries & it's asking you to care enough about yourself to also acknowledge your own limits. There's no need to give yourself completely away, even if you very much want to help & serve (literal in your profession, right?). If you start recognising & honouring your own boundaries, others will also respect them & start working with them. Doing that will do you & others good. Hope this helped & think it's great you explained to the lady what happened. Think this card is also supporting you into being more assertive (what you did when you told her). Don't worry too much, think this may actually help you into jobs that flow more easy for you, instead of having the feeling you can't keep up and/or may do something 'wrong' IP: Logged |

I'm sorry to hear that... I remember how there were times in which I failed even if I tried hard... I couldn't prove myself worthy enough, and my friends noticed that and knew that I was not a good team asset. I ended up quitting, as I couldn't bother with being somewhere that I was not really valued.I'm different from others, that there were times I couldn't be as good as the average people of the group. I also was not good at naturally blending with the groups, and it did affect my confidence at time, even thought I have always been emotionally unaffected (I have always been quite independent). Good thing is, I also do have some things I'm good at, and I didn't need to try hard to discover them. Even now at my career, I have things I'm good at but also weaknesses that can cost me jobs if I'm not careful. For example, I'm not good at communicating as the average people, that it costed me some good job opportunities (I can screw up my speech and get nervous). Also, I do lack something in my field that can be considered as major, but I have tried to hide it well, while trying to improve it. I hide it, while I try to shine what I'm good at, so that people would take notice on that instead. Thing is, everyone has their own talents and where they might not be good at. It sucks when we have put effort yet we are not enough for something, but it just means that we might just need to try to understand where we are actually good at, and improve that instead. Also, maybe you are just a slow learner but after learning, you are actually highly efficient. Maybe you are the type that all you need is more time to learn, and then you are actually very good at it after "graduating". You know, I'm a programmer and if you ask me, I suck at technical knowledge, but once I get used to a set of programming methods used in a certain project development, I can actually shine well too. I'm just not as technically knowledgeable as the average programmers, which can be a huge no no, specially if discovered in the interview, along with my communication skill (I have Saturn in the 3rd house btw). But my strength is my creative thinking, that can only shine when I'm warmed up in something.
So don't let this affect you! You just need to explore where you are good at, figure out what strengths you might have, and use this knowledge strategically to turn the situations in favor of you! Also, you have a real desire to help others, be there for them, unlike your sister. You actually care, and that can make a huge deal. If you can find a job in which you come into contact and help others who have difficulties, they would be much happier if they can feel that you do listen, and not just see them as a job and bothersome. They need a friend; and then since you have experienced what it means to have difficulties as well, you can use that to empathize and encourage them. Even if they are just average people, still don't underestimate the power that it is, for the people you work with to feel your genuine care. IP: Logged |

I feel that hostess is not for all personality typesI feel if this had been another job that didnt test for social skills then u wouldnt be so upset But american society is so focused on extroverted personality traits to be desirable and someone who is shy or introverted is unworthy then i feel this has hurt you a lot bc it says something deeper inside of you of ur worth as a person. At least you feel that it does bc this is what society communicates to us But it is not true. And not everyone is suited to being a hostess dear. You need to find a job that fills the gifts u have to show to the world. IP: Logged |

Hi Jen,So sorry to hear of your job loss. The universe has not been treating you well lately! I have the same situation with a learning disability plus I am very hard of hearing. During my teen years and into my twenties I got fired from a LOT of jobs because I was too embarrassed to speak up and tell my manager. Now that I am older, I have come up with my own strategies. Really listening, writing down notes, and repeating them back to the manager during the training period. PLUS telling them what your disability is. Good on you for telling her this. Perhaps some training in something that really interest you? There are all kinds of occupations in the food industry. Working as a waitress was a disaster for me but I went to cooking school (my passion is cooking) and gradually worked up to become an executive chef. See what I am saying? That old saying, do what you are good at and the rest will follow. I will be back to work in a few weeks and just can't wait to get back at it. Follow your passion, Jenny. All the very best to you in this new year. HUGS, HUGS. POOCHYCAT. IP: Logged |
