I've been looking for a job for the past few months and truthfully, I haven't been lucky at all. I haven't received a single response. I don't hear from recruiters at all, despite having a prestigious degree. I have tried applying abroad and I have no clue where to apply. I'm torn between returning to Ireland or finding a job in Asia (or elsewhere really at this point). I'm very down at the moment. This had never happened to me before and I'm especially frustrated because I came back to my parents house and my parents being very toxic people, I can no longer deal. I'm on the verge of throwing myself out of a window! I spent all night crying. I'm sorry to bother all of you guys with my issues. I don't have a single friend, so I can only turn to strangers online Thanks. IP: Logged |

Perhaps you are meant to be self employed? Get creative and start something? Plenty of jobs in Asia currently (depending on your industry), rest assured, but it's going to be a whole different culture, lifestyle, etc. Are you adventurous enough to jump in for the long term, say a year? Otherwise take the time to travel, begin something along the way, and hopefully something will come out of it in the process. What's important is to take the first step. Me - unemployed as well and decided to try Asia just a few months back. They have different working conditions here: long working hours, low wages, unpaid overtimes (which happened almost everyday, sometimes past midnights), weekends shifts. It's good for the experience, but I've decided to quit and start my creative studio. Currently still residing in Asia, while working on my start up and enjoying the low living expenses here plus the adventures. Perhaps, I'll return when the business could at least afford the higher expenses back in my home country. IP: Logged |

Thanks for your input, very enlightening Yeah, I've been looking for a way to earn some money to start something of my own sometime down the line although the idea of going to grad school is still present in my mind. In terms of culture shock, I'm not too worried. I've been to places far worse than say SE Asia, so it will be a different experience for sure. I'm very interested in the low expenses aspect of things on top of the adventure. Sure, the working world is different there but I won't mind working long hours. In terms of duration, I was aiming at a year, maybe more. A year is the minimum I have in mind. IP: Logged |

Just wondering, which industry are you in atm? Grad school is great if your country is offering free education, otherwise I'll seriously rethink of the piling debt incurred. But then, it's really dependent on your profession. If it's one requiring for advanced degree, by all means go for it. I, on the other hand, am in the creative industry, and I don't believe in conventional teaching. Though I went through uni and stuff, I still find myself unemployed in this fluctuating economic conditions. Recent grads these days really have to be more self reliant. Anyway, best wishes to you. And if you happened to travel to Asia, be safe. IP: Logged | |
