My father has always been the source of misery in my life. his presence is heavy and drains my spirit. I grew up watching him be an emotionally abusive alcoholic to my Mom. The happiest moment in my life was when they divorced and he moved to another state. Now I've been getting text messages from him saying that he's wants to move back here, and spend time with me. He's always given me an eerie feeling, and I wonder...what's going to happen if he moves back here? What is the best thing I can do for me and my family (Mom and dog)?

Intuitively, it feels like he's made some changes, but none have hit his core - he's done just enough to satisfy his ego if that makes sense. Nothing has really changed.

I wish it felt better, but it doesn't. I do hope this helps in your decision-making.

May I ask, when you say he's done enough to satisfy his ego do you mean what he's already done, or what he's going to do when he moves back?
