Hello everyone,

This is my take:

We often get readings, so we can help to speed up things or make changes in our life (if I can get past the bad ones or frogs, Prince Charming will get here sooner), but often the opposite is true. When you know the outcome of something beforehand and alter what you would have done, if you hadn't known, the end result will also change making the original reading null and void.

Those experiences are brought to you to help you to grow into being the person you need to be to meet the partners that will not only be the most significant in terms of growth early on in your life, but in later years bringing you what it is that will make you your happiest--that is if you feel you deserve that.

Sometimes it's hard to see that until later in life, since ease typically doesn't bring growth or the proverbial pearl wouldn't have the luster that it has.

Over the years I had gotten many readings with the hopes that someone would give me an answer I would like, since the alternative wasn't what I had hoped to hear. After emptying my head earlier this year, I don't have that strong of a need anymore. I believe we are all created with the tools needed to help ourselves, but it takes time to uncover them and I am grateful for those here who have shed some light on that for me.

I hope life is good to everyone here in the future--even if they don't feel that this is possible at the moment, since our thoughts are what truly creates our own realities.

Have a wonderful day,
Spring

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Spring,

Personally, I get readings - well, got it the first time out of curiousity, but it snowballed.

My reason might also be controversial- after getting several and gotten almost fairy tale like stories (and have it unrealized so far) I learned to take those readings as band-aids but fully aware they are just that- nice stories (or tough love, depending on what readings you have).

I do not hold it against the 'storytellers' if it does not manifest, even if I paid them. I take it seriously but also not let it dictate my life, if it makes sense.

However, I've read for many people also in the past.. perhaps it's control-based. Knowing the outcome give them more reasons to be patient, because there were goals to be seen.

But ultimately I agree- being strong and able to stand through the uncertainties is more rewarding, unfortunately it's really hard to do.

I am glad I got into readings- it expanded my sense of spirituality and helped me to become more accepting of the intangibles and broaden my perspective. But I also know the limitations, as we are humans and even if we were able to predict the future exactly, we'll **** it up because we're not meant to wield that kind of vision permanently anyway... because we're creature of flaws. So we have to use it wisely.

Thanks for your perspective, it's nice to see it from others point of view also

Hi,
why do people get reading?
well in my case, to have a little hope when I think there is none. Or just to sooth some nerves. waiting and unknown...I personally cannot handle it. I am little bit obsessive compulsive

Some readings are different---not predictive, but insightful. I like insightful readings. Also, readings are led by spirit and can offer us guidance that we need to recognize or understand in order for us to move forward or for us to understand why a situation occurred in the first place.

I think this is a really interesting question. For me I see Tarot being intimately tied with anxiety issues and personal fears/insecurities. This is why, when I give readings, I try to emphasize the positives and tangible lessons. If it's all dark and doom it just serves to feed fear and anxiety.

I have had all kinds of readings. Sometimes I go for the experience of trying something new ex. Akashic, Mediumship, Palm reading.

9/10 times I go for a Tarot reading, I am lucky for have a great physic near where I live. I go and she teaches me while I'm getting a reading.

I have gotten bad news during a reading, I use that as an opportunity to practice my affirmations and Free-will to change the outcome.

I think some people get readings in moments of confusion, insecurity and anxiety. I know that when I ask for a reading I'm either feeling anxious or confused. But I know that this is not the way you should live life... You should live it one day at a time with the different twists and turns life has to offer.

I agree completely with this. I believe there are certain things we cannot know because we need to go through the experience for our soul's growth. I even think that sonetimes we are given mixed or even wrong messages when we ask certain questions.

I am getting away from needing readings and exploring other aspects of spirit. I have found that changing the way i think, practicing gratitude, building my self esteem, forgiving, letting go and surrendering to the flow of life have served me far better than readings ever did.

I still have so much to learn, and perhaps the readings i got have helped me to realize this.

The more i focus on other aspects of my spirituality, the happier i am.

To be honest, readings have ****** me over more than helped me. They have given me expectations that led to almost traumatic results.

Well I used to get readings when I was feeling insecure and desperately wanted answers. Usually the readings (my own too) left me with more questions and still desperate for answers. I was making myself miserable! Now that i've stopped I feel a lot better

My reasons for getting readings - sometimes boredom, sometimes I'm very confused or overwhelmed and feel like I have no idea what to do and I hope to gain some insight that I don't have to help me with the situation, sometimes I just want to get some positive news to feel a bit better about the situation.

Usually in my case, what is predicted either almost never happens or happens in such a random way that I could have never predicted that that's the way things would happen...

There's also an element of control - I hope that with a reading I could control the situation a bit better (for example at the moment things at work are not great after a reading I felt like I had more of a plan on how to handle the situation).

Those are my reasons anyway...

I get readings because I need to know answers about something. It usually is when I'm not being told the entire truth. I can always count on the tarot to clarify.

I don't really look into the future. I think the future is never set in stone. I use the tarot to read the now and it never lies. To me its a reliable and loyal friend.

I get readings for all kinds of reasons - anxiety, boredom, curiosity, etc. The mere chance of what you'll draw is reason enough for me but lately I have been trying to get them less so I can look at life more objectively. I used to get them multiple times a day, every day, about everything and although I didn't make decisions based off what I was told it still influenced the way I perceived the situation to a degree. Not healthy. So now I try to only offer readings instead.

Thank you to everyone who has replied with their thoughts on the question I had as I can relate to a lot of what others have gone through or are still trying to learn about themselves.

I've often been curious as to how intuitive people decide when they need a reading. Wouldn't they be able to get a good feeling about what they need to know about a situation or a general feeling about a person? Is it maybe that their intuition hasn't been on target lately, so they need confirmation from someone else?

Thank you again,
Spring

Hi Spring, hope you're well!

As an intuitive myself, I have a hard time discerning with objectivity on some things - that's when I ask questions.

I was going to say something similar to LostTaurus.
I have not had a tarot reading but have gone to a medium, shaman, and met someone psychic and they have helped me because I lack objectivity on myself and get mired in my subjective thought processes. The info and insights they can provide can help spiral my thoughts into a new level of consciousness and outlook and see things in a different light that I may never have without the help. Yes all healing must be self healing in the end but I think we do need guides/insights to help along the way.

Thanks LostTaurus and DeepSeaBlues.

Sounds almost like a blind spot of sorts. I just thought maybe the spirit world or where the source of your intuition could allow you more visibility and that readings were for confirmation.

I'm doing okay LostTaurus.

Hope your new relationship and career are both going well.

You were right about one of the energies I've been picking up lately.
Besides the tiredness and sadness from one person--think my mom (this is what you picked up).

I'm also feeling scatter-brained and lacking in security from I think (the person where the dishonesty will come from when I see him)

And spacing out or I call it daydreaming--from the man I saw earlier this year, but have not bumped into lately.

As you can see, my days have been interesting. I've been trying to ground myself and continue to release any negativity I may still have remaining, but the one that doesn't tell the truth keeps sending me more. I haven't found a good form of protection for it yet, though.

Take care,
Spring
