I should be in Texas next week, and be back the following week. I'm going to see family and I'm taking my BFF with me. I've called and it sounds like everything is fine.

Yet I just have this nervous feeling, possibly something that will happen there or on the way or maybe something here while I'm gone. This feeling of unease is very unusual to me...and I also had a feeling while meditating during the October eclipse that talking to my granny might inspire a major change of some sort.

My friend is much closer to being psychic than I am, though she's never been to Texas (she's heard others describe meeting my family, however). Normally she's the one worrying but she's strangely optimistic this time.

I'm just baffled why I'm the nervous one in this case and she's not. If anyone wants to do a reading (pull some cards or whatever) on what this trip will be like I'd be curious to see.

Hi Pixie,

Are you driving the trip? The very first thing that I got was a shakedown-type brush with the law. Maybe a traffic stop & ticket. Nothing major, but a pain in the butt type of thing - like someone will see you and your out of state Cali plates "coming from a mile away". They'll make the stop a big, offensive deal (What brings you to our fine state? Got any drugs in the car?...stupid, offensive, presumptive stuff).

This could (of course) be totally off, but is the only negative sense I get from the trip at all, and was instant - even as I read your request.

8/C, 6/H, 5/D lends structure to this sense: 8/C warns of an urgent need for cash, 6/H warns of a bad event, but 5/D tells of success, prosperity, and feels like it is the reigning card over the trip as a whole.

Let me know your thoughts.

It's possible. Not only are we going in a car with Cali plates but the woman driving me is black. Granted, she's female (so less likely to be pulled over for DWB, or Driving While Black), but OTOH there are cops who really dislike seeing "black and white" mixed together (especially if they think they're mixed gender as well).

Something has gone seriously wrong when we both worry more about the police between here and there than criminals. (Even she's a little nervous about it, but figures chances are low for anything like that to happen, and she has all her papers in order with access to a good lawyer if it does.)

Yet I went many years ago (before Obama winning seemed to create a revival of racism in my old town and surrounding areas) with a tattooed blasian and we were okay (but I checked with truckers before going, this time I'm checking with speedtrap.org, but obviously that's more for speed traps rather than racial profiling and worse). Also, I seem to be able to say the right things to cops so that's a plus (and I have a definite Texas accent--though it's East Texas rather than West Texas and West Texans sometimes dislike East Texans...but then West Texans tend to be less racist).

Maybe I'm worried because last time I went in 2011 it came close to violence, and bringing a black Taoist (who can share about how she once pulled me into Discordianism and we both served the Goddess of Chaos for awhile) this time might be pushing them beyond their endurance. Granny will be fine with it, but I don't know about the others. And being raised there I know race relations are (mostly) fine AS LONG AS mixing is kept to a minimum, and my bringing my friend is going to violate that. On top of that when I was there in 2011 I learned some white people (including relatives) were angry because a black run organization successfully sued to have a Confederate flag (raised in response to Obama winning and Gov. Perry talking secession) taken down from a courthouse. And I can't forget a great aunt (who is, I believe, still alive) who actually panicked when Obama won saying "the blacks are gonna kill us all" (she had a stroke, whether that was brought on by fear or her irrationality was caused by the stroke, I can't say, but some of my older relatives actually blamed Obama for her stroke).

You know, it's starting to make sense why I'm uneasy about this. I just hadn't thought about this before because I didn't have to until now.

Hopefully her intuition is more right than mine is and all will be well...or at least turn into an entertaining story once we shake off whatever happens.
