I feel he wants to perhaps talk about why you two didn't work out, to clear the air of sorts. He hasn't been able to concentrate at work or daily activities because he's been focused on the break up. I think this conversation will be a learning experience and leave you kind of annoyed. Conversely, is it possible he heard you were seeing someone else or maybe this is the news he has to tell you? He has news regarding a relationship he thought was over, that I feel pretty certain of.

It looks like you are (or will be very soon) dealing w/some decisions which will put you on your guard and confuse you. These choices will be inevitable for you to make though, as shown by death, and I think you will walk away with some confusion still and possibly some pain but there is a man (king/swords) around you who can help you find truth in your situation over the next few weeks and communicating with him will be quite non-emotional but you will find the truth and come to the end of a cycle
