The QC was upright while I layed out the cards. Is your director a female? In any event I think the cards reflect the discussion/remarks leaving you feeling troubled. Anyway 8D in the present suggests a period of hard work now then I think you will end up feeling "at home" in your job. The cards suggest to me things will be get better - 8D shows rewards after a period of hard work - perhaps in this case emotional satisfaction too.

If you didn't, did you hear it from a reliable source, and both you and the source fully understand the context in which it was said?

Intuitively speaking, I feel this isn't as negative as you seem to perceive it to be. I actually feel there's more to the story and whatever these details are, would clear this up a lot for you. However, I don't think it's necessary to learn those details in order for you to make this work for you.

If you truly feel your director sees you this way, you should ask to speak to your director about it.

If your director told you this directly, ask for clarification and direction on how to improve.

If your director didn't say this to you directly, you should ask him/her when you will have a review because you are interested in learning their opinion of your work and in learning any areas they would like to you change or improve upon.

DON'T mention that you heard anything, or say anything that seems like you're responding to gossip. I don't feel that would be well received at all. But if you approach this in a professional, non-emotional manner, it will be well received and seen as you trying to improve yourself. This comes off well even if they think you're doing a great job.
