My mom says I have a volatile temper, but I don't think I do. I can see how my Mercury in Aries causes me to curse people out and get mad and spout off insults at the drop of a hat, but I don't think I have a bad temper. Do you see it?

"my Mercury in Aries causes me to curse people out and get mad and spout off insults at the drop of a hat"

Bad temper.

Also it looks like your aries Mercury is squaring your Capricorn moon. Bad temper/inner tension. Capricorn can be stubborn--which is why you have trouble admitting you have a bad temper even though what you described alone is enough to tell you hve a bad temper, moon is in the 6th house (virgos house) which can make someone critical. So it looks like mom is right. The planets are potential, you can always work on it.

You can always use the squares, conjunctions and opposites in one of two ways: 1) use them negatively--or in other words let the harsh aspects rule you or 2) use the pent up energy and excessive tension that the harsh aspects give and channel them more constructively. How you use them (to your detriment or to your advantage) is up to you. Try to make the harsh aspects work more like sextiles and trines . It's all up to you how YOU react to things. It always takes time to change your negative traits and try to work on allowing yourself to grow as a person, and the hardest part is when you try to change but fall back into familiar patterns and get discouraged--but if you keep working on your temper and how you react to negativity and stick with it even when occasionally your temper get the best of you, you will have mastered your harsh aspects and made them work for you versus letting them ruin you.

Moon/Mercury means you allow your feelings to dictate how you speak (watering it down to fit your situation)...you have aries Mercury (can work in one of two ways--1) aggressive and volitle or 2) passionate and upbeat) squaring your Capricorn moon (can be 1) stubborn or 2) down to earth and persistent) so it can only play out in one of two ways:
1) if you allow the square to act as one (which to be fair comes naturally to you because it is your natal aspect but you aren't doomed to your chart) you will be hard-headed with a volatile temper and me-first, I'm always right attitude. You'll react angerly and be aggressive in speech.

Or...if you try to focus that energy to make your square into a trine or sextile type of energy 2) you could be a passionate and influential speaker with a down to earth approach in your dealing with people, businesslike. It takes time to change a habit and a long time to work on the inner you but stick with it--you're a Capricorn moon and Taurus sun, so you can do it. Maybe you'll have a career in which speaking with people or negotiating will be good for you, learn to speak passionately and confidently and have a businesslike approach to your surroundings where your persistence and business mind will keep you steady and on track with your dealings with others. Maybe in arguments or disagreements you can use your methodological and serious capricorn moon to think about what points you want to make and allow it to keep you grounded and from going off the rails while that will allow your aries Mercury to argue your point in a less aggressive and loud manner but rather leaving only the positive side of aries to do the work: passionate and persuasive.

In summation: instead of being stubborn and angry, you can work on (and it'll take a while, I won't lie, changing your natural habits always takes a while but it's worth it) your approach and reaction and be more passionate/persuasive in speech and calm, steady/stable and logical in your emotions. Put those two best sides of Capricorn and aries together and you could be a motivational speaker or public speaker with a certain flair or charm. You'd definitely win more arguments when you're passionate in your point while remaining calm and allowing your stability to let you think about the good points you need to make. As opposed to being loud and angry.

Work on it, it'll be worth it and better for your peace of mind too.

Also, your Mercury in aries is aspectinf your ascendant negatively--work on that as it can make you a bit aggressive and hasty outwardly. Again, instead of letting it knock you down, make the energy work as a sextile. Don't allow your anger to get the best of you--as poised to coming off as angry and rude, use the positive aries energy--strong, assertive but sociable and sporty--maybe even take up a sport that will allow you to release the pent up energy so you can take your anger out less on people (you'll release your anger through sport or exercise and even when someone does make you mad you can bottle it up and know you'll release it later in a healthy manner...it'll make it easier to deal with BS).

You have mars positively aspecting the ascendent so i know you can focus that marsian/aries energy into something constructive! And pluto positively aspecting the ascendent means you can be very influential and come off as strong, passionate yet positively powerful/empowering. Seriously, get those squares to work in your favor, becuase you have great potential in your chart if you can overcome the urge to be angry, hot-headed and hasty/impatient.

I appreciate the thorough analysis. I agree that I have potential (especially woth the grand trines!). I have always wanted to be a journalist, and I feel I could be a really great one if I channel my energy into allowing myself to write with conviction and with passion. I think I can stir up really strong feelings in people. I do give advice to people, and I feel as if I help them (or so they say lol). This past 2015-2016 solar return my solar ruler was Capricorn, so I've been a little more cold and dominant than usual, but this upcoming solar return in April should be better.
