I think he wanted to add you. I dont know if he felt that you would reject him or he felt that he wanted someone to give him support. Someone felt unbalanced at that time, so I think its from him. Did you accept his friend request? Someone is still trying to stand tall and not give in so easily. They think that they shouldnt trust someone or something or that they have been hurt before in the past and doesn't want that happening again.I think the good news is that someone still cared or may still liked the other person. the rejecting him part it's true, he was always afraid to talk to me again because of how would I react.
I didn't accept because before that he cancelled the friendship request
the not give in so easily was probably me, I was really angry at that time at him and wanted him to do the first step in contacting me
