I am having a hard time formulating my questions. He felt betrayed/abandoned when I cut ties with him years ago, and earlier this year I acted in ways that hurt him again.
When he suggested that we give it another try a few months ago, how did he really view/see our connection/relationship? Like, was it just a friendship/work thing with intimacy thrown in as a bonus? Or was he seeing even just a hint of potential future for the two of us — if I could just get my act together?
I am L and he is J.

Thank you very much. You picked up on the “safe harbour” feeling correctly as that is what he told me.
You are also correct about the other things, except that I think it’s not in the future. It’s already happening. We can’t be in a truly committed relationship so it was a mutual agreement that we keep it light, seeing each other only once a week or so. No huge expectations on both sides.
We had a fight two days ago and today we agreed to just focus on our projects and being just friends.
My question is: will it really be just a platonic relationship or do you see him wanting us to be physically intimate again?
My other question: does he sense anything special/different/unexplainable in our connection-relationship compared to his previous relationships (or me compared to other women in his past)? I believe we have a karmic connection and I’m wondering if he feels it, too.
