Hi. I was looking at my vedic chart and comparing it to my western chart from astrotheme and https://www.astrolada.com/birthchart-calculator. I'm just confused. Is my mercury in the fourth house or the fifth house? I also have no planets in my third house. Thank you!

Your confusion is coming from trying to get a single answer on specifics looking at two different systems that nearly always differ on specifics. The answer as to what house your Mercury is in with the tropical system is rooted in what degree and minute of arc is precisely correct for your Asc.

Hey, ScorprioPowerr ... I 'quoted' you in order to 'show' you how to energize your urls.

Removing the 's' from https should hyperlink all your urls.

http://www.astrolada.com/birthchart-calculator.

I see that she used "WHOLE SIGNS" only,
on the western natal wheel ...

You have 'interceptions' too. Look at the house number, and the zodiac signs, in Astrolada's western WHOLE sign wheel.

In your astrodienst Western chart, using Placidus Houses --

your intercepted-space is Libra in your 4th house and all the Aries degrees, in your 10th house.

If you had astrodienst Western using Koch Houses (or another similar), you get another shift of cusp lines. (But, ignore that, if you don't understand. Koch is used by some esoterics in predictive-astrology work.)

Yeah. I can definitely see where someone can get confused. Messes with your perceptions {your eyeballs}, I know.

I'm going to do this 'slowly' -- you might be ahead of me-- but maybe someone else is reading this and trying to learn too?

Imagine an analog clock face...
We're going to move counter-clockwise (eyes moving to the left)----

Western Placidus Astrodienst chart---

Your 10th house starts at MC Pisces 26.45';
with {Aries} 'in-between' (meaning, "intercepted");
moving into the sign of Taurus up to 3.20'.

The 11th House Cusp is Taurus 3.21'

Continue....
Clock-face, moving left around the outside of circle, crossing over the ASC, to the bottom where you see your IC (4th House Cusp).

Your 4th House---
Begins at IC Virgo 26.45... <planet Mars 29.23 Virgo>
Intercepted LIBRA <no planets>
Scorpio for a few degrees <planet Mercury RX 2.19' Scorpio>
up to Scorpio 3.20'.

The 5th House Cusp is Scorpio 3.21'

In your 10th House (starts at MC Pisces 26.45' to Taurus 3.20') you have NO planets. You have zodiac {Aries} in intercept.

In your 4th House (starts at IC Virgo 26.45', through Libra, to Scorpio 3.20') you have TWO planets.
* Mars Virgo 29.23' and
* Mercury retrograde Scorpio 2.19'.
You have zodiac {Libra} in intercept / aka in interception.

There are 30.00 degrees to a FULL or WHOLE zodiac sign. Some of your house cusps are numbers close to the end of the sign (just before 30).

I think what's confusing, is if you are looking at 3rd House LEO cusp 28.45-- and your "eyes" see all that green span of Virgo degrees (up to 26.44).
THEN you see IC 26.45 Virgo, and IMMEDIATELY over the IC, you have planet Mars IN your 4th House Virgo.

Your "eye" goes along and sees the whole of Libra zodiac there, then suddenly you see Mercury-rx in Scorpio BUT!! it is still IN the 4th House.

Part of what's confusing too??
When you read some chart meanings, they will take a planet at the end of a house {e.g.= e.o. 4th}(like your Mercury), and IF it is within a few to 5 degrees, the astrologer will interpret it as 'belonging' TO (or in) the next house.

{With your planet in retrograde~~~ you might have to look at how long it had been retrograding, whether it's ready to station (turn around) and turn direct again.-- But you can ignore what I just said, if it's confusing! LOL)

{{I'm totally fine about people asking for specific information on 'how' to read the chart. It's okay! I welcome it. ... Ask away!!! LOL}}

I could almost anticipate some other questions you might have, but, I'll wait to see if 'what I said' cleared up your present question?

WHOLE HOUSE system gives a whole different looking pie chart.

(If you want--
I'll edit and un-quote your charts?
You can post your "img" chart yourself,
by editing in to remove{delete} the 's' in [img]https ....)
