We just had a discussion on homosexuality during lunch and I'm feeling rather fragile...there are several homophobes in the class, and most of them are nice people otherwise, and it's terrible that they're homophobes So I wonder, what is everyone here's opinions on homosexuality? ------------------ "The barn has burned down, and now I can see the moon"-Zen saying. Homosexuals are quite ok in my book... as long as they don't try to hit on me (as if THAT would happen!) . Then again, if there's somebody whom we don't like in that sense, and started to send out "vibes", wouldn't we be all a little wary of that person? In general, I've found that homosexuals are more open coz they don't have to hide what is probably one of the biggest embarrassments of people: sexual alignment. On terms of discourse, homosexuals are quite fun to talk to, provided the topic is something worth talking about. One of my pet peeves against homosexuals (some gays, specifically) is the way they emphasize too much that they are homosexual and acting even far worse than the opposite sex. I have this certain threshold for acting properly for men and women, and some people do tend to cross that line. And when they do, it irritates me to hell, regardless of alignment (except of course, when people are really close to me n.n). I mean, okay, so you're a gay, but that doesn't give you the right to impose yourself upon others. I'm all for freedom and self-expression, but we shouldn't forget manners and etiquette. There is an appropriate time and place to do such things. If they do it during there, maybe I'll meet it with a little less hostility. Other that that, homo's are cool. They're people, too, and deserve the same amount of respect (statement debatable depending on what type of homosexual is discussed ) that we give to 'normal' people. IP: Logged |

One reason homosexuals might act out so much is because they expect to be ostracized etc. and so they play the 'rebel'. In my (very limited) experience, gays tend towards refinement and intelligence rather than the stereotypical raunchiness. P.S.- I think Bush is homophobic. Ahem, growing up in Paris I must say...in defense of 1/2 of the parisien population that....hmmmm I'll put it this way, people should be able to accept other's preferences, not hassle them about it. It's none of their buisness who others go out with? why should it affect them? most of my best friends are gay anywayIP: Logged |

Hee hee, I think that's kind of funny- Paris, cultural center of the world, 50% gay? Oh, those heterosexist types would flip. ------------------ "The only devils in this world are those running around in our own hearts. That is where the battle should be fought"-Gandhi IP: Logged |
