He has a point, though. If the people in Congress got a wiff of their kids having to go off and get shot at, bombed, and chemicals dumped on, they would sure think twice about being trigger happy in the Middle East.------------------ Its easy to get a reputation for wisdom. Yeah, from what I understand from the interview that I saw w/ this dude, he's suggesting it primarily so rich congressmen and lobbyists, et al, would have to think about their kids on the front-line along w/ the working-class kids that went in for the education $$, instead of being secure in the fact that they're safe in their Ivy-League schools or backpacking through Europe. Bravo to him. I have quite a few friends and acquaintances that'll probably come back in body bags or w/ next-Gen Gulf War syndrome (which, I assure you, isn't a figment of soldiers' imaginations) if this thing that's building-up comes to a head. Rich fu*ks should have to think about their own over there, too. IP: Logged |

But, to be fair, anyone w/ an ounce of power and/or influence will prolly find a way to usher their kiddies into the Coast Guard...(Ew, I'm getting a bit hostile, aren't I?) IP: Logged |

I haven't heard anything further about this. I know that in Israel everyone has to serve in the military (I think it's for 2 years, but I'm not sure)-male and female. My friend's father got out of the draft by not showering for a couple of weeks and then peeing on himself at the enlistment office. Supposedly, anyway. IP: Logged |

Hey N_wEvil, not to worry, the important people aren't interested in Rangel's proposal. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,75387,00.html CNN is pretty much to the left, their news is very one sided. It is better to get news from MSMBC or FoxNews, they report more sides. Donna IP: Logged | |
