When I was kicked out of high school, I went to an alternative one which was just...wonderful. I can;t even begin to describe the nurturing environment, the wealth of knowledge...anyway, the classes were very small to aid the discussions and we had to uphold one very important rule-No Personal Attacks. This meant you couldn't say to someone "You're stupid", but you could say "Your IDEA is supid, because....[insert reason hre]" You had to back up your ideas. This made us think and well as learn to be patient, analytical, tolerant and respectful of each other. (All that in a place filled with discouraged teens who were pretty down on themselves and others....but it worked!)Just thought that would be a good place to start here... IP: Logged |
